Just occurred to me this trip is coming up soon (yay!) and don't think I made a Nitrox decision. Can you advise on whether this is a Nitrox-worthy destination, e.g. dive profiles, flexible or pre-ordained SIs, lots of extra shore-diving, etc?
What's the deadline for deciding on Nitrox? Thanks!

I have not been to Dominica before but ScubaShafer has so hopefully he'll chime in and respond or some of the others who have been there.

I ALWAYS dive nitrox as it is safer over repetitive dives. The pkg is only for the boat dives so shore dives would be on air...BUT its not a lot of money and it will increase your bottom time with so many diving opportunities so I would go for it all things considered equal.

You don't really "Need" Nitrox for Dominica based on the dive profiles and the amount of diving, but I like to use it. Sanja and I purchased the Nitrox package, but may use air for the shallower shore dives. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, it helps. I typically dive EAN at home (FL) and on most trips but was unsure about this one.

WW - if I'm napping away during all the good times in the afternoon can I change my mind when I get there? Or does this decision (and payment) need to be made before I go? Thanks!

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has information about the cost of renting a regulator at our hotel? Trying to figure out whether to purchase one. Thanks!

I am not sure if they prorate the pkg or not. If they do then adding it after the fact is ok. If they do not then you'll pay for something you did not use.

Also we get a special aka cheaper price if you pay for it upfront. That discount goes away if you pay for it while there. I think the discount was approx 2-3 tanks of free nitrox.

If you are under 40 you will probably be ok on air unless you are doing 4-5 dives daily and then you'll want nitrox for the boat dives.

If you are over 40 MANY find that nitrox helps them feel less tired.

I'll get the rental price for you AND send you a price for a new set of regs too. We have some very nice deals with our vendors and they really help our members out price wise. Kamala
