OFFICIAL INTERESTED THREAD HERE!!!

We typically do the whalesharks, cenotes and cozumel every other year. Its our BEST OF MEXICO trip and we did it in 2010 so its on the radar for 2012.

How many are interested in it?

We'll do 3 days diving in Cozy, 1 day in the Cenotes and 2 days with the Whalesharks (wherever they are...along with Mantas and Dolphins!)

Pricing in 2010 was $1491 and hopefully we'll be able to stay fairly close to that price.

Here is the link to our last trip for full details!

Help us decide if we should put it on the 2012 calendar:
Interested List

1. Clint aka ScubaClint
2. Susie aka ScubaClint's Mom (Yes! She wants to swim with whalesharks!)
3. Dave aka BigWaveDave
4. Steve aka Soonerdiver
5. Jeff aka Sparky103
6.

Many of you have been asking for WHALESHARKS that don´t cost a small fortune like Galapagos and are GUARANTEED or practically GUARANTEED unlike Belize and Utila so...

So are you ready for these guys???

Note thanks to ScubaStorey for all these wonderful shots!!!

HOLBOX/PLAYA ARE YOU READY FOR US AGAIN???

How about a redo of our incredible Cozumel, Cenotes and WHALESHARKS trip in summer 2012? The prices are LOW and the diving is GREAT and you can´t beat the combo...three places in one with private buses, ferries and transfers to make it all work out! And we´ll have a new and wonderful hotel in Holbox that was built after the hurricane destroyed most of the island a couple of years ago!

OR if the whalesharks are migrating to Playa we'll follow them!

A sample week would look like this:

Day 1 Arrive Cozumel
Day 2 Dive Cozumel 3 boat dives + All Inclusive
Day 3 Dive Cozumel 3 boat dives + All Inclusive
Day 4 Dive Cozumel 3 boat dives + All Inclusive
Day 5 head for Cenotes and Dive Cenotes (2 dives) then head for Holbox
Day 6 Snorkel with WHALESHARKS -most of the day
Day 7 Snorkel with WHALESHARKS -most of the day
Day 8 depart Holbox/Playa and fly OUT of Cancun/Cozumel

Estimated Pricing for 2012:

Approximately $1500-$1600 for the week + airfare.

I am with Tammy. Whalesharks is on my bucket list. This sounds inviting. Of course, anything WW puts together is inviting. Time and budget is the name of the game. The timeing and budget seems to fit. So keep me posted.

We dive the cenotes on the way to the whalesharks so the timing is key. Also for most two dives is perfect so even if we could add another day...I don't think we'd have enough takers to make it part of our official schedule. However I think you could add a day on the end/beginning to do a few other cenotes if you like. I'll check into it for you and see about offering it as an option if we do the trip.

I would be interested; I guess it would be in July?

I traveled all the way to Western Australia to see them with no luck. People on the trip the day before and the day after got to see some but not us.

Hey SoonerDiver I can relate...I tried all over the world myself and ONLY when we went to Holbox/Playa did we see them...and LOTS of them!!! And its EASY!!!

The season is June, July & Aug so it will be summer months. We have typically gone in June in the past.

I did this the first time back in 03'. Just a little excited to swim with my first whale shark I almost jumped in and forgot my snorkel until someone reminded me. Then while hanging one leg over the boat someone said "FINS"!! So after grabing those with both legs over the boat someone said "CAMERA"!! I yelled back at all the laughter "I'm going"!!
Then again in 06' I took my kids. I didn't tell them what we were doing until we got there, .. (like when I took them to see the Rolling Stones. :cool2: )
Both trips were incredible and well worth it and I'd do it again.
I highly recommend the Holbox trip to anyone, but to people with even the slightest fascination of these animals it will be an experience you won't forget.

Several years ago, my husband and I saw the whalesharks at the Georgia Aquarium and were fascinated by them. Would love to see them in their natural environment. Would anyone object if I took my mature (would be) 14 year old son with me? (OMG, 14!!!!!) (I know I can bring my husband, lol. He can sometimes be mature.)

Short answer WW, is yes, :wavey: interested over here too! :wavey:

Mike it will be great to see you on this trip and HOPEFULLY ON ONE IN 2011 TOO!!!

Margaret we'll have to see what the members say. The reason we don't have anyone under 18 is of course due to the fact that our members are all adults (at least chronologically) and we do not want to worry about our adult conversations or actions in front of kids.

I have thought of offering a kid friendly trip for our members who do have kids. Perhaps this might be the chance to try this new trip option?

Is your son a diver? Or would he be a non-diver and just do the whalesharks since that is a snorkel experience?

I guess I am just lucky. I have been to Utila 6 times and all but one of those trips I have been in the water with multiple whale sharks. The only time I did not see any was on a trip in Feb. and that was expected. That being said.. I would be interested in this trip. I would like to do the cenotes. And I have several friends that are involved with the Whale Shark Research programs that go to Holbox, so may be able to see them there.
