Sounds like a great program to exchg miles in programs you don't use for miles in programs you do use. Has only tried it yet? Of course if you try it via AA.com by Oct 31st you'll earn 20% more miles or trade value.

I signed up for the program and tried to use it once. I had several different FF accounts with miles in them that I will never use. The problem with points.com is that you need to give up huge amounts of miles to get very few in return. ie: 20000 continental miles for 4000 delta miles. that sort of thing. Then on top of that you have to pay a hefty fee to make the exchange. No way could I make it come out to my benefit.

Was wondering how that would work or not work. Is the fee a % or just a high set amt?

it's based on the amount of points that you exchange for. The person requesting the trade pays the fee. The fee varies but it is not a flat rate. If I remember correctly it can be as much as $250 for 10,000 points.

Thanks for the intel. That is pretty pricy. But I'm sure some folks will figure something is better than noting. I have lost thousands of points on all kinds of programs because I did not keep them active so something like this may have been a good idea. Just not so sure I would initiate any trades...guess I would just look for them. Perhaps that is why they are so lopsided... to offset the high price of paying for the trade.
