> Hi, I am a woman, who scuba dives by herself. I was curious about your website. I see it is not a dating site, but are mostly the people single on your trips? Do people mingle and hook up? Can couples, such as my boyfriend and I go, or is it only for singles? I am wondering about the age group? I am also wondering on what level of scuba experience most people are, since I am a beginner? I am interested because usually it is all men on my trips, and I notice you comment there a lot of women. I am in my fifties, are the women in my age group? Do you have any pictures of previous trips? How much are the excursions? Thanks, Susie

How about some video!!

How about the Bonaire Green Flash 2009..

This trip was to Cozumel 2009. I'd guess average age of mixed 50/50 group about 44 yo. The oldest may have been behind the video, 44 was definitly a few years ago!!!

Hi Susie -

The age range of the majority of people on our trips is in the 30-59 year range, with a few 20 somethings and 60 somethings thrown in! I would say that you would fall in the majority. The trips are a mix of married and single people, with the majority being single. If your spouse or boyfriend does not dive, they can still join us on a trip at a reduced non-diver rate. There is usually a pretty even mix of men and women on trips, some have more women, some more men. The women are not preyed upon by the men. The men at SingleDivers are the absolute BEST!! They are very respectful. The skill level of the divers on our trips is across the board. We have some very newly certified divers who sometimes sign up for the Dive Mentoring program on a trip. With the mentoring program you would have a Dive Master buddy up with you on the trip to help you fine tune the things you learned in class, such as bouyancy, air consumption, etc. We also have some very advanced divers, Dive Masters, Instructors and even some Tech divers who come on our trips. We do "mingle" on trips, meaning that we dive together, have dinner together, go on tours and excursions together, etc as a group. Our motto is that "Our Hookups are to Tanks". That is not to say that it has never happened, but it is not the norm. I am quite sure that you would fit in perfectly with our group, and you will be amazed at how comfortable you will be. We are not a cliquey group, and we welcome new members. There is always a mix of new and old members on every trip. By the second day of the trip, you will feel like you have known everyone for ever. It helps that the board allows you to get to know people who are going on the trip prior to the event. The price for excursions varies from trip to trip. For example the zip line tour on the upcoming Roatan trip is $50. If you can fit any school supplies in your luggage without going over the airline weight limit, we collect them and give them to local schools and orphanages. Hope this helps.

Susie - you'll fit right in, as will your boyfriend. I've been on several trips, and the focus is always diving, although some folks have done what people always do when they find someone with mutual interests.

We're a bunch of dive-a-holics with experiences ranging from brand-new to folks like Wreck Wench with 1000s of dives. Most of the trips are targeted for the fairly new divers, with enough options available to keep the advanced divers happy. I've always felt like everyone goes out of their way to make the other divers comfortable, whether it's lending a hand with someone new, or being patient with the super divers who can stay down forever on 1 small tank.

I'm at the higher end of age (64) but I've seen folks older and much younger - and I'm married but my wife doesn't dive, although she's come along as a bubble-watcher and boat fluff on some of the trips.

No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

I am not a rule maker here, but I think the emphasis should be on "non diving" when it comes to bringing a partner along. There are plenty of resources for diving couples already. Just my opinion.

(Hope this does not get me booted from the board!)

:hiya: Susie and :welcome: to Singledivers!!!!! Ditto what Scubaounk says. Ihave been a member since 2005, am single, mid 50's and have had a blast on all of the trips I have been on. Kamala puts on the best trips and have not ever had anyone be disrespectful. Most of my dive partners and roommates haev been married, but buddyless divers. There are always lots of activities for everyone to participate in or not. I hope you and your boyfriend will join us on a trip soon.

Of course you will NOT be booted from the site for stating an honest and well stated position. I guess the rest of the internet is soooooo ugly you can't help but fear any statement that might deviate from the norm or those of the owners (rule makers as you call them) will result in such treacherous actions. :tears:

The truth is we create a comfortable arena for all members especially women to express their opinions and still be respected at the end of the day.

Teresa is right... we FOCUS ON SINGLE DIVERS... SOLO DIVERS ... BUDDYLESS DIVERS and MARRIED BUT THE SPOUSE or SO DOES NOT DIVE.

However...

We often need a few couples to fill rooms with only ONE bed in them yet we have to put 2 people in them. In fact we often offer a "Sleep Together" Discount for helping us fill one of these difficult rooms to fill! :respect: And while we are VERY couple friendly... as Teresa says... we only have a few couples dive with us as they do have a lot of options.

However...

ALL Diving and non-diving spouses, so's, boyfriends and girlfriends etc. ARE ALL WELCOME!!! Always have been and always will be!!!

Susie,
I can say this has to be THE most Friendly & Great bunch of Divers from all walks of life.I have made several friends here.Kamala also attends Dive Shows & promotes (HH) Happy Hour events in the different locations of members through out the country. In the years I've been with Sd.It continues to bring new divers as well as Experienced on the nth degree,We all are part of the "Water World".I haven't found a more helpful crowd. They all are willing to lend a hand at any experience or venture you are about to enter. We are the "Box of Chocolates" in Divers...Dive in and ,as they say ..The water is fine....
