The LX-7 has many improvements over the LX-5. No one improvement would be considered a breakthrough, but it is a nice camera.
I finally got a chance to try one today and discovered a very nice feature that is almost unheard of in "compact" cameras.
(By "compact" we mean non-interchangeable lens digital camera. While this is considered a 'compact camera', you do have the ability to control all camera adjustments, record in raw format, or shoot in aperture priority or shutter prioity mode. A "point-n-shoot" does not give you those options.)The manual focus is the best I have tried of all cameras in this class. The
Nauticam Underwater Housing for Panasonic LX-7 has taken advantage of this design and provided us with a manual focus lever. If you choose to use manual focus, you only need to move the lever left or right on the rear of the housing to use the power focus function. While doing this, the camera graphically shows you the focus distance and depth of field simultaneously; nice !

Another feature that some people will like is the ability to simultaneously adjust shutter speed and aperture (should you decide to use complete manual control of the camera.) The angled knob on the top left side of the housing adjusts the aperture, and the knob on the top-right side, just next to your right thumb, is used to adjust shutter speed. It is easy and intuitive.
P.S. Kamala, you will have the chance to see and handle one at D.E.M.A. next week!
