Ok I'll start... we had the chance to discover a cute little resort in the far reaches of the Bahamas...Riding Rock Hotel in San Sal Bahamas. The resort is family owned and made us feel like we were family. The diving was a blast hosted by an amazing dive operator and we saw LOTS of fish, turtles, sharks and even several HAMMERHEADS. We had a group of 12 and rang in the New Year with all sorts of zany fun and simple pleasures. It was INDEED a great start to a hopefully even better New Year! :teeth:

Not anyyyyyywhere as cool as diving the Bahamas over New Year's but I ate steak, lobster, had wine then watched a movie & New Year Rockin Eve at the same time.

Found a deal to go to Scuba Club Cozumel for 5 nights on 2/23/13: $665 plus air & air is cheap right now! LOVE Scuba Club : )

Happy New Year!

Spent the weekend prior in Vegas going to see The Killers on Friday night and at UFC 155 on Saturday night. Had dinner at Mario Batali's resturant. So NYE was back at home with dinner and a movie.

Not nearly as good as the Bahamas. Still on my bucket list down the road.

With a huge bunch of crazy Italians!

My Italian sister was stranded in the US while in transit from Brussels to Honduras. She and her family got in a car in NYC and came down to NC and stayed from Christmas Eve to NYD. A bunch of us went to the beach for NYE/D and ate, drank, and laughed until we cried. It was very special and perfect.

:cool1: Sounds spectacular! Every holiday is great with family (especially Italian!), and to host such a spontaneous gathering must have provided a bounty of treasured memories (less, I suspect, the obligatory frantic preparations). Thanks for sharing! :angel2:

Two lady friends and I elected to drive about an hour east of Panama City to the quaint fishing town of Port St. Joe where a band featuring one of their friends was playing. I volunteered to be DD, which resulted in keeping my dance skills up around laughable, vice hazard to navigation. We met the pub's namesake, The Thirsty Goat, who was not very talkative as he stared back at us from across the bar, and enjoyed great hospitality from the locals. We failed however to score the used mud boggin' truck donated for a community nursing home's charity raffle. *shrugs* Ya can't win 'em all...

The unexpected highlight of the trip was the drive home; Port St. Joe is perched on the edge of the Eastern Time zone, so about three miles into our return we were transported an hour back in time from 0050 to 2350. The coast along there makes a long graceful curve to the west, so as midnight struck a second time we were treated to the spectacle of fireworks displays from several beach towns in the distance. :cool1: I was thanked by both ladies I had to wake so they could watch with me; a risky maneuver but which proved, on this occasion, successful. :D
