Perhaps others from NC would be interested in traveling with you. That way you'd have company on the drive, as well as someone to share expenses.

Jim Abernathy had 3 boats last year. Two were damaged prior to the hurricanes when a boat lifter from the marina tipped over. As far as I know he still has one boat, Deep Obsession running. I've been out with them many times, but not this year. There is also Diving Solutions. I have only done a TGIF with them which consists of 3 tanks fruit when you come up from the first dive, and lasagna, salad and garlic bread after the second dive and cheesecake after the third. They are done on Friday's only on the weekender boat which goes to the Bahamas.

Hm....this sounds like we should try a WPB destination as a possible future SD dive trip to me! What do you all think???

When I lived in Raleigh it was easy to find divers via Fantasy Lake or the dive clubs who wanted to road trip to Florida. We did it all the time! When BradfordNC gets back later this fall he goes diving ALL the time! He lives in Fayettville and is always looking for divebuddies. And he drives to Florida all the time too! He is one of several dive buddies in the area that love to DIVE! Check with wreck maniac as well. He is ALWAYS diving MHC and the surrounding area as well. You are in divers paradise girl...-ww

Yes and a very long dive when driving alone, I know that because I have done it!!! Then there is the hotel expense!! Oh well.

Ahem. Chez Marvel's might be available.... 30 miles south of WPB, however.

That would greatly reduce your expenses and give you great company as well.

Well I am off work from December 24 - January 2 could easiy swing 3 days in Florida. Might want to operator shop down there, I have 2 choices at the moment.

The only thing about me is I strictly adhear to recreational limits so that might be problematic for some.

I don't see a problem. Which three days? I can join you on 12/25 - 26 and 1/1 - 2.

New Years weekend works better for me- going to see my daughter, SIL, & grandchildren for Christmas! :cool2: But Walter knows where the spare key is, of course.

If I can get down there dates are sort of felxible, but I was leaning towards mid week (less traffic). I actually think I have plans on the 25th but have not heard for sure if it is a go. The Raleigh Ski and Outing Club here has a Singles Party on December 25th, and it is probably the only strictly singles thing I got to all year. Christmas is not my holilday so I never do anything that day anyway, so it is a fun thing to go to.

I will check around to see if I can garner some interest, but from the quick search of air fares a car trip is more feasable.

It has to booked as a group, I believe the minimum is 10 and the max 12. The lasagna pan only holds 12 servings and the pan is as large as will fit in the oven. It is a nice boat, with air conditioned salon and a nice head with a shower.

I try to dive all the holidays. I have to work mid week, so if you take that option, I'll have to dive with you another time. Either way, I know you'll have a great time. If you are with us on the 31st - 1st, you can bring in the new year with us underwater. That's always a fun time!

Looks like Florida is not in the cards for me this year. Flights are scarce and expensive and not interested in driving down alone (could not find anyone local), no biggie, will use my time off work to relax, relax, relax.

At lesat I will get some diving done next month in Mexico.

I hope some NC folks come forward who'd like to share a ride to SE Florida.
