Don't undersell yourself too much *just to get something different*...after awhile *different* wears off if its not pretty good to begin with and job *hopping* is bad!

Kamala I am not looking for something "different", I am looking for work closer to home. The work/life situation with this job (four days/three nghts in Matagorda county away from friends and family every week) is a significant hardship, and makes it nearly impassible to have any kind of normal life. If I get a chance to work closer to home and have a normal life again, then by God I am going to take it.

At some point in life you reach a point where work is a means to have a life, not the other way around!

Amen Sister, I reached that point early due to circumstances in my life. And I am reaching it to an even greater degree now. One must live life mainly for the present. Sometimes these decisions lead to satisfaction we didn't expect.

Which is why, if I have not found work closer to home by June, I am going to give notice at the plant, cash out one of my 401k's, pay off the mortgage and take a sabbatical. Sure it may have some cost more monetarily over the long run, but my need to have a life in the present is much greater right now, than saving for some tomorrow that may never come.

Life is too short to spend it cut off from the ones you love.

Life in the present is all that there is for anyone. Sometimes we fool ourselves into thinking there is something else. So if we find ourselves not living life fully in the present circumstances, then it is time to change the circumstances. So you have my blessings and understanding as you make changes. I certainly am making some.

It is not a decision I make lightly. But I know that it is the right one for me. I have no intention of growing old in this place.

As Andy said in The Shawshank Redemption "Get busy living, or get busy dying". I choose the former thankyouverymuch.

Truth is truth, ladies. Once in a while, it becomes necessary to wipe the slate clean & start over. As scary as it can be on the front end, it sure brings a ton of renewal, change & learning. Not to mention liberation. Everything happens for a reason & the universe will provide. Trust in the process is critical. All will be well.

I salute you, Teresa, on your decision. You can make it happen. Go for it! Life is, indeed, too short...
