DIVING NC in 2014!!! We are looking to do ANOTHER trip to NC (July 17-22) next summer as we had such a great time this year and picked up a number of divers that live close enough to help make it an annual trip again. Since we have a 4th of July trip to Mexico to see the whalesharks...we are looking at July 17-22 with diving being the 18, 19, 20, 21st. How do people feel about it being a 4 day diving trip to make the drive/flight worthwhile vs a 3 day diving trip since we don't have a holiday to help offset the day of vacation. Its early enough that we can still decide if it will be a 3 or 4 day diving trip. When you do 4 you can basically get in all the best wrecks in the area and even double dip on 1 or 2 if desirable. SO what are your thoughts?

Since it's not over a holiday weekend, and it's sandwiched around BOM, Cayman, and close to Dominica. For me it would probably be better if it was three dive days vs. four. Could you keep some slots for four days and some slots for those who just want three days?

I may have play for one person...but typically its all or nothing... meaning I am responsible for the full boat all the days I charter it.

I've been EYE ballin this trip for a while. Since my sister moved to Raliegh/Durham..It could be a duo trip..I would vote (4) days also. Is it fly to RDU and drive the rest/rent a car?

RDU is the main fly-in point. Transfers are usually included in the package. Kamala drives a van up from SC and picks up people at RDU on the way.

Car rental is an option if you want to be on your own schedule.

If I were out of town, I would plan for four! The weather can get in the way at times, and with four days, you stand a greater chance of getting some great dives in.

Let me offer my services to anyone looking to do a shorter trip. I am don't like to do more than two days in a row, and I'm even happier with one at a time, so I might be able to buy out somebody's spot for one day.

Greg, if your sister is a diver and is looking to connect with other divers, let me know. I am in RDU.

Thanks to all for the input... I am counting on the core group that went over 4th of July to help make this trip a reality as they felt they could swing it again this year vs waiting 2 years to go back to my beloved NC!

I'm interested in this one but would only want to dive three days. This would be more of a long weekend trip for me, and I'd rather save the extra vacation day for a BIG trip!

Thank you all for your input. Here is the rub on doing 3 days if we set the trip up for 4...

1. You would have to have your own transportation so you could leave on your own as the group would leave a day later. (Shouldn't be a problem but it would be a long drive or you'd just rent your own vehicle)

2. We could juggle 1-2 peeps for 3 days only if we could find locals willing to dive for 1 day. Typically they want to dive the weekend but it sounds like at least one (Leslie) would be willing to do a week day which would allow you to arrive late or depart early.

3. Keep in mind that if you fly you'll need 18-24 hrs no fly time.
