WOW, I go to work and this thread goes wild. All good info. I am very surprised at the failure of an LP MiFlex hose. I have two braided 7' hoses and as I've said before never an issue with any of them. I would be very interested in MiFlex's analysis of the failure. I can’t even imagine a scenario of problems that would cause this failure in a brand new hose.  Please keep us informed on what you learn.

Each wreck has a tale to tell about its life and its demise.

If you are observant while diving in dark places listen to the account each has to tell, You cannot come away unaffected.

One other thing to consider, if diving in a drysuit, the braid is abrasive and the friction between your 7' hose draped around your neck at your neck seal can cause a hole to be rubbed in the seal.

That could very well happen I think. When I dive in my wetsuit I started to get a sore spot on the back of my neck from where the hose was rubbing. To solve the problem I just pulled up the collar of the dive skin I wear under the wetsuit to cover my neck and I was fine from then on. My drysuit has a neoprene color that covers the latex neck seal so no issue there either, but for someone with an exposed latex or silicone seal I can see how it may cause an issue and something to think about when considering the pros and cons in using flex hoses vs. rubber ones. I guess the next evolution of flex hosing will be some sort of smooth skin variant. Hey we may have an idea here, business plan anyone!?
