The easiest option is probably the Meridien, which is literally across the road from the airport. [...]
If you want to stay in town, then the next best options are either the Swiss Bell or the Mamberamo [...]
The Swiss Bell, being a larger chain of hotels, is easier to book but well over priced, IMHO, at $40-60/nt IIRC. [...]
The Mamberamo is locally owned [...] They actually have two hotels, the Marina Manberamo and the Royal Mamberamo -- stay at the Royal Mamberamo, which is in the city, and offers AC rooms. [...]
I want to amend the above information for anyone who is still needs to make their hotel arrangements --
I have had the opportunity to stay at the Swiss Bell and confirmed that the budget rooms offered through deals on Agoda (and similar sites) have windows, unlike some other hotels and despite the fact that they are listed as not having *any* view. Their breakfast is also probably the best I've had at any hotel in Sorong (although as a vegetarian I found their a la cart menu lacking for lunch and dinner). The deals found on Agoda or other booking engines can make this hotel the best option in town.
Also, the Marina Mamberamo should be considered an option and there is a market area full of kios kios right there which may be interesting for many of you. The Marina Mamberamo also has the Sunshine Beach Restaurant, which is one of the better places to eat in town. Expensive but good by many accounts.
I have not yet had the opportunity to stay at the Luxio but it also appears to be a viable option for a nice hotel and people speak highly of it. Unfortunately it is sort of the wrong way from the airport, making it somewhat farther from the marina area. It's still not that far, and there is still city all around you to explore, but you might find yourself at the mercy of unscrupulous ojek / taksi drivers when negotiating fares to / from the boat.
After further investigation, I can only really recommend the Meridien as an overnight place when you are flying out the next morning, given it's location next to the airport.
Lastly, after staying at the Belagri last time I was in Sorong, I can only give the place a vote of no confidence, especially where the restaurant is concerned. The cheaper rooms lack windows and are very small.
