Hello everyone.  My name is Sandy aka Scubapunk, and I will be finishing up this trip for Traci, so she can get some more fabulous trips ready for booking.

Any of you who have previously been to the Maldives can you please chime in here?

 

Are there any health precautions, such as vaccinations, we should take now before going to the Maldives? I checked the CDC website and they say zika mosquito is endemic, so we should bring bug repellent????

 

ALSO recommended vaccines are Hep, A typhoid and a few others depending on your personal circumstances. We'll be mostly on a boat, but not entirely away from food and water issues, so I'm asking....

Guys-I just realized that my passport expires in April. Anyone have any experience on getting in and out of the country with a soon to be expiring passport. I know some countries are really nit picky about that??

Most places require 6 months left on it or they won't allow entry.  You should do an expedited renewal info here.

there are local us passport locations that can renew you pretty quick...but you have look carefully: https://travel.state.../expedited.html

MALDIVES EV FORM REQUIRED FOR ALL TRIP GOERS:

 

Since some of you are still trying to find the form I am attaching it to this post. Please send it to the boat ASAP. If using the buffer hotel it is Somerset and you musty put your full name and date of trip and Maldives in the subject line. You do not need the reservation number.

 

Please email to info@explorerventures.com or fax to the number on the form.

 

We will post another list of those who still need to complete the form very soon.

 

NOTE: YOU MUST BRING THE ORIGINALS WITH YOU TO GIVE TO THE BOAT. PLEASE DO NOT FORGET!!!

I have sent a request to the boat to see if the April expiry is a huge problem or a small problem. YES most countries require 6 months prior to expiry. Fingers crossed....if you CAN get an expedited passport I would do it.

Passport info:
For those who have less than 6 months on your passports, you need to contact your state(or closest to you) Bureau of Consular Affairs which is the passport agency. You need to make an appointment to have your passport renewed the same day(they don't take walk ins)They will expedite it (do same day renewal)if you have proof of international travel (a hard copy) that is wthin around 8 days I believe. You need at least 6 mths on passport for international travel.I would recommend renewing, you wouldn't want to be turned away at airport.
