Hello St Croix trip goers!
We will use this topic to manage all the questions asked about this trip. Please check back frequently to see what others have asked and how we have replied. This will be the ONLY ongoing TRIP FAQ for this trip so you'll only have to look in one place and can quickly see what has been added since the last time you checked.
ONGOING St Croix 2018 TRIP FAQ:
- How to Book
Q. Why can't I seem to be able to book this trip? It won't let me log in and I have tried the recover password several times but it does not help? 4-6-18
A. You must be a premium member aka Premier or above to book our trips. The price is $35 a year of which you can file for a $25 member rebate after every trip you take with us or private travel booking you make. So your membership dues are only $10 after one trip and you are saving even more money with two or more! SO....please verify your premium membership is current and if you are still having issues please email firstname.lastname@example.org for add'l help.
AccommodationsQ. Can non-divers join this trip? 4-6-18
A. The rooms are limited and we are taking nearly every room at Arawak for our trip. We have committed to 16 divers so much reach that number. To do so we are offering a SLEEP TOGETHER discount for 2 DIVERS who are willing to share a bed. This allows us to put 16 divers into 15 beds. We can also accommodate a non-diver if they 'share a bed with a diver'. We are working on an option for a non-diver that wants a private room but does not want a spot on the boat. If they wish a spot on the boat we will work on a discount for not needing tanks etc.
Options & ExtrasQ. How much is nitrox? I can't find it in the cart yet? 4-6-18A. We often open a trip without all the extras locked in but will notify everyone when they are available. When a member asks its a great reminder to follow up with our supplier. When we get the info we will post in the TRIP PM, the TRIP FAQ and update this reply and in the TRIP DETAILS to ensure new people see the info when they first book.
Discounts & Rebates
Travel DetailsFly in to STX - direct flights on American from Miami, Delta from Atlanta, to Puerto Rico and small plane or to St. Thomas and small plane.Pick up is arranged and look for the person holding the Singledivers.com sign. The van ride is about 30 minutes.Rental vehicles are available but note that they drive on the left side of the road so if you are not comfortable driving that way it is not recommended.
Diving & ItineraryQ. When will the proposed diving Itinerary be ready? 4-6-18
A. We are still working out the final proposed diving itinerary but opted to open the trip without it. We will advise as soon as it is finalized.
Q. Does Cane Bay Divers provide a locker?
A. No but they do give you a mesh bag for your gear and they keep that, clean it and bring it back to the boat. You will need a dry bag or something to carry what you need and a mesh bag for your wetsuit and booties.
Q. What was the dive itinerary and logistics for this trip?
A. Here is the dive itinerary for this trip:
The boat is docked at the dock near Flyers that is near the Arawak hotel - about 3/4 mile so can walk but can be a lot of traffic.
Sunday – 2 boat dives and an optional shore dive. Lunch was at Off the Wall and dinner at Flyers.
Sunday is a busy beach day and gearing up was across the road and walk across rocks and pavement. Recommend not having this dive on future trips.
Monday – 2 boat dives then a Frederiksted pier dive. Lunch at Tap Deck and dinner at hotel. Pier dive needs to be guided since the exit is not obvious.
Tuesday – 2 boat dives and Frederiksted pier night dive. Lunch at Eats and Pier dive with dinner at Tap Deck
Wednesday - 2 boat dives and night boat dive. Lunch at Chicken place (La Reine Chicken Shack) and dinner at Flyers
Thursday - 3 boat dives and had pre-ordered lunch back at dock and dinner at hotel
It's better to eat 2 nights at Christiansted instead of Frederiksted since it's closer and better logistics.
Tour InfoFriday tour day – tour of gardens, lunch at Mt. Pellier Hut Domino Club (pigs drinking beer), to the eastern most part of the island / U.S. then dinner on the Christiansted boardwalk – Rum Runners http://www.rumrunnersstcroix.com/
Experience Required, Training & WorkshopsAll experience levels. Very little current and only the shore dive could have a rough entry if waves are coming in. If that is the case recommend no heavy cameras.
