Amy good question - all tanks will have yoke connectors. I will add this to the trip FAQ's; thanks for asking! :diver:

As Brad said good question. As Brad noted this boat does not offer DIN and they do not have adapters. I guess they all did at one time but sadly they all seem to vanish so they no longer supply them. Its a good idea in general for the DIN travel diver to always bring an adpt with them because almost always they are not available. A few places do have them and we will try to note those venues but even then we'd need to monitor as they usually  have only 1 or maybe 2 at the most and everyone in the resort could possibly want to use them.

Yoke is the standard for travel divers and destinations that cater to them.

What is the Lion Fish situation in T&C? And what is the policy on hunting them? On a previous Explorer Liveaboard (St Kitt’s) we could not hunt “for safety reasons”, but if we have the whole boat maybe the rules will be different.
And on the eighth day, God said "OK, Murphy, you take over."

John I have requested this info from the boat.

Regarding safety... the day operators still hunt actively in T&C. As a result the sharks come check out all the divers all the time. HOWEVER they have been far too frisky if divers/crew have been hunting so most liveaboards ceased allowing hunting until their behavior returned to a more normal fashion. The T&C local govt ALSO has been wanting to regulate the hunting so were in the process of issuing new guidelines. I am awaiting those guidelines so we know what to expect.

Thanks for asking! Kamala

FINAL ANSWER ON LIONFISH HUNTING:

According to the boat... "As of the last update I received, the new regulations were put in place, but are quite onerous. They are expensive and a logistical nightmare with everyone on the vessel (including non-diving crew and all guests) having to obtain licenses. Not only is this time consuming and tedious but it would require EVERY guest to have to have a license and so we would have to pass the costs onto the clients who may or may not want to pay them. Furthermore the cost of ongoing compliance for the boat crew is excessive on our end. So at this time we are not allowing lionfish hunting on the boat until the regulations change."

Thank you, Kamala.

Bureaucracy at its finest!!! Let us keep a running total of Lion Fish on the trip. It doesnt take many LF to depopulate a reef of fish, especially the juveniles, and a fish desert is not going to draw the tourists and their dollars. Just my 2psi.

TOTALLY AGREE!!! I am hoping that the local operators who either can better afford to follow the new rules and/or can work the system better are doing a good job of keeping them down. The last time we were there that seemed to be the case.

I just realized i was asking questions in the #4 forum not the #3..... already breaking rules   Oops ..... I read in another forum  that yellow gear isn’t the best on some dives, is this going to be an issue for me? Yellow trim mask, yellow accents on different things etc.

I dive yellow fins and have never had a problem. I don’t think the T&C waters are considered “shark infested” so any ‘yummy-yummy-yellow’ risk is minimal. According to this article, sharks are attracted to the contrasting of colours and not a specific colour. So wear the colours you like (and be able to swim faster than your buddy   ). https://scubadiverli...yum-yum-yellow/

It will not be an issue on these dives even thought there are sharks. That was for the S Florida shark dives that it is an issue as the sharks may confuse the light color with food. And the yellow trim is usually not a huge issue either...its the big contrast of LOTS of yellow vs just some trim. Brad may jump in and add to this as he does our S Florida shark dives all the time.

We are so glad you are reading other forums. They are soooooooo full in info and so helpful. That is why I am so sad that forums have died. :(

The S Florida dives have much more intense shark activity with much bigger and more sharks that are being chummed in the water column. Anything stands out and they are more aggressive by nature. I have worn yellow fins on the TC boat with the sharks and they dont care. They are smaller reef sharks and are looking for injured fish. They dont care about humans and wont even notice you.

Thanks!  I’ve done in Cozumel quiet a bit, but no sharks.  Nassau with lots of reef sharks and didn’t have an issue.  I will be back in Nassau in December.  My dives have all been from cruise ships to Roatan, St. Thomas, Rhodes Greece, Grand Cayman and some of those other ports on the Caribbean.  Pensacola was my check out dive and Orange Beach was my advanced water certification.  Looking forward to a trip dedicated to diving!
