I made one a number of years ago to not make New Year resolutions. It's about the only one I've ever kept.

I would say that would be included, but I'm not sure that where I end up settling is going to have power and a telephone line...let alone DSL...so...maybe i could make an attempt at up-ing my average to 1.0 post a day...at least for now...

To dive South America and Africa and then bring about world peace. Oh, and to finally start making some money!

Ok...I'll go! First off I do make New Year's Resolutions...and I try to not have exactly the same ones as last year. So if health oriented it will be something tangible so I have something to measure against vs something like "improve my health". Also since my birthday is in June I revisit my resolutions then to see where I'm at in getting them accomplished. By doing this I still have 6 months to go to get them done if I've not made much progress but I've usually made enough progress that it adds an extra birthday present to myself from myself! (It also keeps me from totally blowing them off or otherwise it would depress me on my birthday...so its good incentive.) I also only tackle 3 resolutions as studies show that people can make up to 3 changes in their life and stick with them...more then that and most people fail before they start. And finally I set my New Year's Resolutions in December and start them early...kind of like 'practicing' so that I'm really ready to hit the ground running in January! Afterall...it only takes 21 days for something to become a habit...good or bad...so the practice I get in December helps me get to my goal in January faster!

So this year's resolutions are:

1. Start exercising again...even though I'm diving more...diving is not the only exercise I need or want. (And I have recruited fingrabber to help me keep this resolve by working out with me!)

2. My garage has taken on a life of its own...I REALLY need to get it sorted, cleaned, sold, tossed, and organized. Any SD'er with great garage organizing skills out there with suggestions???

3. My last major resolution involves SD...its time to incorporate, trademark, get an accounting system in place so we can better serve members, allow members to put dive trips on layaway by paying monthly towards trips, etc. Again...do we have any SDer's with talent in these areas?

Good luck to you all in setting YOUR resolutions! -ww

My New Years Resolution is to lose the weight I gained after the bone breaking accident and, in a separate incident which doesn't reflect my education level in the slightest, an unfortunate little accident with the blender (one more reason I don't cook). So...

1) Get back to 45 + min. or cardio every day
2) Eat 5 small meals a day
3) Take my flax and concentrated fruit/veggie/berry supplements every day

And, oh yeah.... encouragement over the next 6 months would be fab. Who knew that I had been maintaining my weight all those years on a shoe string! Time to get serious and get back into the smaller wet suit!

I love Scotland's resolution. Write the correct year on all forms. I still occasionally have trouble with that 200 part.

I do not look forward to the gyms being crowded for a few weeks.

Speaking of gyms, DO NOT weigh yourself at the gym. Some of them change the scale so that you weigh more than you really do at this time of year. Then they lower it to make you think you are losing more than you really are. Then they crank it back up to discourage you, so that you'll stop.
