Hey Gang...you all asked for a poll so here goes. We may have a chance to do Bonaire in Nov in conjunction with ScubaDiving Magazine's promotion of Bonaire as a "Singles Haven". Or we may end up working with Bonaire directly to promote a singles event in June since they are not having Dive Festival this year. SD had originally planned to do Bonaire in June and had a rocking package but was approached by Scubadiving magazine and hence the question. I've seen some people say we have too many trips towards the end of the year and not enough early on or in early summer. I've heard some be concerned about the weather in November and I've heard some say...the diving is better in November...more of the large animals! So now its up to you...tell us what you think and feel free to make comments as well. And if I forgot a logical answer...let me know and I'll add it. -ww

FYI...here is the working 2005 calendar so far....

Feb/Mar: Beneath the Sea consumer show and trip to Florida Springs
April: Saba
May: Long Beach consumer show and Florida for Memorial Day weekend
June: Bonaire or maybe Cozy again????
July: NC and Texas Flower Gardens
Aug: NC and tentatively Catalina?
Sept: Grenada & Northern Wrecks
Oct: NC, DEMA, & Fiji
Nov: Bonaire or ___________
Dec: Costa Rica to deliver toys
New Year's Eve: Cozy

Did ya vote??? BTSea is Mar 18-20...the Boston Sea Rovers show is Mar 5-6 and yes we'll be at SeaSpace which is June 3-6th.

I don't think there's a button for my answer. I'm somewhere in between I'll go in Nov. and would like to do it, but not this year (since the month before I'll be in Grenada).

Any closer to a decision on this? I would love to do Fiji, but this is probably a better fit for my budget. Also have always wanted to dive Bonaire.

Hey gang...anyone else care to vote? I'm waiting to hear what Scubadiving mag has come up with. If not, I'm going to do the trip THIS YEAR in June since I have a good contract with Buddy Dive already.

Will the Nov dive also be at Buddy's? That is where we stayed last time and I loved it. Bet they would give us an extra break if they knew that there was so much publicity involved

Well gang its looking a bit too aggressive to pull off Nov with Rodales. They want to do a 5 hotel massive pkg for which Buddy Dive would be one of the resorts. It looks like we are going to scale back and do our original plan of June with some test marketing features to set it up for a grander scale program!!!


BUT....many of you have not voted for June but rather November! HELP what do I do????

I still think the Scuba Diving mag thing is the opportunity of a lifetime, and I confess I don't understand why you wouldn't jump on it. I know I'm repeating myself, but I really don't think you'd have a problem finding the minimum number of divers to go on the trip, especially with all the publicity I imagine you'll get.

Please don't give up yet......

p.s. Less than 20 people have voted in this poll, and I'm pretty sure there are far more people than that who post regularly on this board. So like I suggested before, maybe not enough people are seeing the poll...? Perhaps it warrants a new thread, with a more explicit subject line? Just a thought.

Thanks Shamu man...I am not giving up on them...they are concerned about pulling together the resorts and the funding to do this campaign. The reservation is on Scubadiving's part...not mine.

The compromise appears to be do a test pilot of a singles week in June with only 1 resort and see how it goes. If it goes well we can plan a bigger event later on but most likely in 2006.

Note: When Scubadiving mag does something like this they are talking about ad campaigns from the resorts where they will be spending thousands and thousands of dollars. Times are still very tight for resorts that feel that they will get divers regardless due to Ivan damage and tsunami damage etc.

If we can get our foot in the door and do a smaller scale version...I think we can still make huge wins for ourselves!

For me it's a question of logistics. I'll have my son for the month of June this year. So, it's not likely I could make it. June is not possible and November is. If worse comes to worse, I'll plan my own trip to Bonaire for November. Sure would be nice, though, if some SD folk were there to spend it with. Thanks for keeping us informed Kamala.
