Split from another thread- these 2 brave souls have decided to host our first event in the Pacific North West!!!- Marvel

Updated 2-28-05

We will be doing two dives on Saturday, March 12. First dive will be at 3-Tree Point (north) in Burien, Wa. Second dive is optional. It will be either at 3-Tree or maybe Seacrest depending on popular request. Keep in mind there are NO facilities at 3-Tree.

We will meet at the Safeway parking lot in Burien, 138 SW 148th St, Burien, Wa, at noon, plan to be in the water at 1:30. After the dives are done, we will adjourn to get cleaned up and meet up again to go on a mini-tour of Seattle (including dinner somewhere) with Keith, aka MNjoe, who will be visiting us from the mid-west. Colleen aka gis_gal will be handling that part. More details TBA.

We'll need to double up on the vehicles because the parking at 3-Tree is very limited. If we get a larger than expected turnout, to the point where the site won't comfortably handle that many, (or rather the parking at the site, plenty of room in the water) or if the conditions don't look good, (not likely) backup plan will be to move it to Seacrest or Edmonds, farther north.

On Sunday March 13, we will take a trip to scenic Hood Canal to dive Sund Rock. We'll meet at the dive shop, Hood Sport N Dive, at 8:30am, and if necessary, double up on the vehicles. We'll be doing at least two dives. Bring some snacks to munch on between dives, then we'll have a real PNW-style pig-out, er, "dive debriefing" after we're done. There is a fee to access the site of $15 per person. More details TBA as the time approaches.

Please contact gis_gal or myself to let us know if you plan to attend any part of this event.

:lmao:
Ok, I'll bite the bullet, but it would be using the KISS principle, Keep It Simple and Sweet, I'm not good at organizing big whoop-T-do's.  The format would be a dive-n-dine, same as we use for our dive club, in that we do about an hour of diving, followed by a "dive debriefing" consisting of 2-3 hours of eating, drinking and socializing at a nearby food and beverage establishment.  A good date would be March 12-13, that's when MNjoe will be visiting the Portland area and I told him I would take him on a dive tour up here in Puget Sound.  As most PNW divers know, tidal exchange is a factor.  That weekend is not good for the more current sensitive sites, (like Tacoma) so I've suggested 3-Tree point in Burien, but that could change.  You can join for either part or both.  Sound good?

oh, I am so there.... Got the daytimer out and wrote this in pen!!!! Just enough time to QC the gear, top off tanks, get fresh batteries.....
If you need any help getting things organized....let me know...I raised 4 kids and have spend 15+ years keeping engineers in line.... so I am an organizing machine.... Also founding president of a club when in college.. So yes I know how to get things done..... :teeth:

Colleen and Greg...you all have a great idea...and to do it when MNJoe is coming to town is awesome! :lmao:

Please let Marvel split this out into its own thread so that others will see it. I can also send you the list of names for the PNW so that you can email them to let them know what you are doing in case they haven't been on the board lately!

It sounds like it will be a blast! :lmao:

Ok gang,
Heres the new low down on the dive weekend..
Sat March 12, 3-tree point

Sunday we have two options..
Ocotpus Hole..
Bad parking (along the side of a busy highway)
Great dive or so I hear this will be a new site for me.

or
Sund Rock
Have to pay $15 each and RSVP with local dive shop
This site is thru private property
This too is a new site for me but hear it is great.

So Greg and I ask
Who is diving and where should we go Sunday?

Let us know..

MNJoe

That was easy. Anyone else have a preference.

:D :taz: :welcome:
I count 3 divers in for both days :thankyou:
If I understand each day is planned as a 2 tanker. But you are welcome to come and just dive 1
