Please take a minute to be thankful for all that you have...all that you've had and all that you will be fortunate enough to have. Even if you lack the riches you desire...you lack nothing if you are Free!

Please thank a soldier today for that freedom...it is the greatest gift of all and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude. -ww

Words beneath the photo:

Pearl Harbor survivor Houston James of Dallas embraced Marine Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke Jr. during a Veteren's Day commemoration in Dallas. Graunke lost a leg, a hand and an eye when he defused a bomb in Iraq last year. This week's images of U.S. Troops in combat in Falluhah deepened the day's significance for many who attended tributes held in San Deigo and across the nation. - Associated Press

People think we have lost just a "number" of military in this "conflict"..... they dont know we have over 10,000 amputees........and so on. And, the old guys know just how they will be supported down the line by the government. Yet they still go. What can one say that can be understood...unless you have been there. When the fecal matter is hitting the ocsillating air rotation device there is no thought of great things...there is just the thought of survival......making sure YOU...and YOUR BUDS come out in one piece. You dont give a crap that Coke is sold there ....where ever there is....later. You dont care about independance....you just want to get home in one piece...one....usable...functional...piece.
You just want to be with your wife or husband...your kids....you just want to hold them and feel safe.

There are no great thoughts....or great motives....just great actions to ensure all come home....in as much as one piece as possible.
Sorry..

Kamala, as the son of a man who spent 20 years serving this country in the Air Force and who fought in Korea and Vietnam, I echo those sentiments. It is a week later and I still get chills when I see the reruns of the Super Bowl ad depicting the soldiers walking through the airport.

To RichinNC and all our other soldiers on this forum serving this country, I wish I could say it better but I will just tell you .... :thankyou:
