I decided to change my avatar picture yesterday. It loaded up right and I can see it in the Avatar controls in My Controls. However, the picture in the posts has not changed and is still displaying my previous picture. What did I do wrong?


Not sure why you aren't seeing a new pic in your posts, I see a new pic of you in your posts - ya look great! You may have something cached that keeps showing your old pic, I think I had a similar problem a while back when I put up a new pic.

robin - im seeing the avatar, try deleting your cache and cookies as well as log out and log back in. That should do the trick.

Simplest way is to press F5 (if you're using Windows...I don't know if it's the same with a Mac). I do that every couple of days when I log in.

in mac it would cmd key and R I believe Tammy. I just uploaded a new avatar and hit control R and it showed up.

Refreshes the cache, I think.....shadragon taught me that trick when I first signed up on SD and had the same avatar issue you were having.

F5, Cmd R or Ctrl R is a refresh command for most browsers. It makes the browser go out to the server and pull a fresh data from the server.

Hello, I'm not sure why my profile pic isn't showing up. I uploaded it (all within the size constraints) and it's not showing up anywhere. Help.

Fran, your Profile pic is showing up in your Profile, where it's supposed to be. Your Avatar is a separate picture, and is the one that will appear on the thread here. The Avatar must be a picture of you. Your profile pic can be anything (tasteful).

Hi Fran...we have 2 areas you can upload a picture...your profile and your avatar. They can be the same or different pictures and they show up in different places.

Avatar: This shows up next to your posts and is the one that everyone can see. Look for AVATAR in your tool bar options to upload it.

Profile Picture: This shows up in your profile which only Premier members and above can see. (Even you won't see it although its there unless you are a premier member. This is done for all our members safety i.e. profiles can not be seen unless you are a paid member.)

Try loading the avatar picture and let me know if that does the trick?

I don't understand why I do not get the option to upload an avatar? I can select the picture but no button to upload.

Go into my Profile, click Edit my Profile, select Change Avatar from the list on the left, clicked Browse, find the photo on your computer & select it, Click Save Changes, and now the new Avatar is showing on my screen.

NOTE: I had to resize this picture to LESS THAN 100Kb for the new board to accept the picture as my Avatar!

If you don't have a SAVE CHANGES button, let us know and we'll have an IT/Admin look at it.
