We had our first Happy Hour in the Houston area last night (Fri. March 4th). I don't know how to better express my excitement than to say: The turn out was UNFRIGGIN' BELIEVABLE!!!! :twist:

We had a great mix of SD's from the area, potential new members, a few people who expressed an interest in learning to dive, Oceanic Ventures (the LDS who provided door prizes, thank you!), and best of all, a few VIP's from Dallas who were in to make sure our little bridge party would be up to SD standards  All in all, we had over 50 people and were busting out of our assigned space at the pub!

See pics from our March 4th HH here:Houston Happy Hour #1 Photos

Our next HH will be in mid April - likely April 21 or 22nd - so stay tuned for more details. We've been challenged to double the attendance :o

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who attended, spread the word, helped in some way, or brought a friend - you guys are great!!!
:(

Hey gang...still in Houston about ready to make it home and got a minute online. I just wanted to Thank Katie TheSassyRabbit for doing an incredible job of letting the Houston Dive Community know about SingleDivers.com! I think she let all the dive shops know, of course the sponsoring dive shop told many of their customers about the Happy Hour, there were people from numerous other dive clubs in the area and I think several (if not more) yahoo groups catering to Houston Divers were told about the event too!

Of a city of 4 million people next door to worldclass diving in the Flower Gardens...its not surprising we'd find a few single and buddyless divers interested in meeting one another! What was surprising was how many decided to do it on our first event!

Folks...I think it is safe to say that we'll see few more members from Texas on the board soon! :twist:

Again I want to thank Katie for the all her efforts to pull this off and the local dive shop Oceanic Ventures for the generous door prizes and support of SD's first Houston Happy Hour! :(

Agreed, it was a great event! I knew that when we had that room set aside for us totally filled up within a hour, it was going to be over the top. I would like to express my own thanks to Katie for all the effort she put in to get this going on top of the other events she is involved in at the moment.

It was great to see everyone! I'll see you soon!

Wow…. what a great turn out for the first Houston SD HH, very impressive.

Thank you for all your work putting this together Katie, great job…. I enjoyed making my introduction to the group and chatting with everyone. A Special Thanks to Kamala for making me feel like part of the old gang I know you’ll be seeing more of me soon, maybe at the Dallas HH if someone will put me up for the night.

And finally … my Thanks to Oceanic Ventures for the door prizes. I won a gift card for their shop.. so now I have no excuse for not dropping in…...

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon and chatting on-line with those who are out of town.

Fin-Again :(

I didn't meet anyone with that name ... anyone else? Then again, there were so many people there that I know I didn't meet everyone!

So glad you could make it - hope to see you at the next one!

I know you’ll be seeing more of me soon, maybe at the Dallas HH if someone will put me up for the night.

Maybe if there are enough Houstonians that want to go the Dallas HH, we can make it a group road trip! :( Anyone want to coordinate the road trip??

Great event everyone. I was late due to work jumping up at the last minute, but was still there by 7:30, and the place was stoked with SD'ers. Kudos for all the hard work and it was great to meet everyone that was there. Great job and many thanks to Oceanic Ventures as well. :teeth:

:angel2: "No Problemo" , I can put together a Dallas Road Trip if there is enough SD's wanting to make the drive.

Do we have SD's in Dallas with Crash Space?

Let's start a list of who might want to go. If it's a big group I'll rent a club
van and just charge enough to cover the cost plus munchies.

1. Fin-Again - I'm there...... :teeth:

It was a lot of fun and everyone was so friendly. Thanks, SassyRabbit. Some of us will still be on the April 16-23 St. Maarten trip, so I won't be able to make that HH, but I won't miss many!
