So I just got some great pricing on doing Thailand...this pricing is for this year...in fact its for the day after Thanksgiving thru Dec 5th. I could do this trip IF we got 14 people. That is a lot but the pricing is a steal right now....

NOTE: Airfare is about $650 from the East coast to Thailand right now! I don't know how long it will stay that low....

Friday Nov. 26th-leave for Bangkok-arrive 11:30 PM on
the 27th, and overnight in an airport hotel
28 Nov. fly to Phuket and get on board a boat
29,30,01 Dec- live-a-board diving
2,3,even 4 Dec- day trip dives, hotel room
4 Dec. PM flight to Bangkok and overnight
5 Dec. early return to the US, arriving the same day
estimated cost-$2000-2200 per person

or an alternative would be all day trips diving out of Phuket
and a hotel for 6 nights- $1900-2100

Also if we have any Thailand experts out there....chime in on all the great diving here!!!

If I could take time off in December, I'd sign up now.

No can do in Sept., already have plans for two weeks in the mountains of Colorado. Looks like the next "best time" for me is after the first of the year.

Bonne Terre sounds like an excellent weekend trip! I would do that for sure. Thailand I love. Not this year though. Next would be better. One thing I might recommend is that you set it up to get done a day earlier so we could spend a day and night roaming Bancock. I am looking at a trip in November my LDS is doing to Brazil. It's kind of a diving/site seeing deal. 2 days in Rio, 7 days diving off some island there and 3 days traveling the Amazon. Kinda like taking a bit of time to see the above water sites.

Walter...Your comic genius never ceases to amaze me. Amonst other, more prolific reading, I love the Spencer books and your sense of humor, few words and not to delicatly to the point, reminds me much of the Spencer character.

Boy dive vacations...
I had a trip planned 2 years ago that is still tops on the list... planning on doing it in 2005..

Sulawesi and Maldives or Sipadan.
Sulawesi - Froggies or Wakatobi (google them - not sure if I'm allowed to post links)

Bonne Terre :
as I understand it, checked it out one time several years ago, you have to go through a "Semi-Cert" course for 2 days or so.. which, in my case blew out the weekend diving... I've heard others say they did it without mentioning the Semi-Cert so don't know for sure...

Loreto, BC:
Nice quiet mellow diving in warm weather on the inside Baja coast.

Inlet passage: (dry suits)
Alaskan trip out of Port Hardy BC on the dive boat Nautilus.

Fun trips:
Cozumel - easy to get to and fun for all
Belize - fun and relaxed

and as Narwhal noted, many other places, some locally... we have a missile silo dive up here, not sure it's still open, but diving one of the AF old missile silos, sounded more pain than desired, one time dive... and, of course the Colorado River - Ring Bolt Rapids, just south of the Hoover dam... great Current diving experience heheh... and it's near Vegas for those partiers...

Sigh... so many

Truk:
I stayed at the resort on land, not sure what the name was, but it was good. Couldn't go off the eompound but a relaxing place.

Dominica:
the land of the boiling lake... great dive, strong currents of the southern end.. champagne bubbles etc... I've got some pictures somewhere if you're interested...
