Great plan! Definitley looks like a fun and flexible weekend.

I'll be heading over on Friday. And I'm definitely in for the caverns on Sunday. I remember going to the caverns as a kid and would love to visit them again!

For any of you who, like me, are camping challenged in the heat, and want a roommate in a local h/motel, let me know (post preferable) and we'll see what we can find that is closest to the grounds.

The more input and feedback we can get before the event. The smoother it will go and the larger it can be.

It's completely up to you. If you are a happy camper, then by all means, pitch a tent, share one with someone else, sleep under the stars (with the mosquitos) :lmao: If, on the other hand, you prefer not to camp, we'll have at least a few folks (me included) who will be camping out at the nearest h/motel. :cool1:

I would love to be able to join for my first event. I have to see how my schedule pans out. Also, wondering what the cost of all of this would be. And as I'm relocating to Houston, how far away is Lake Travis from Houston?

Austin is about a 2 - 2.5 hour drive (or less depending on how you drive) from Houston. Very reasonable!

Cost: TM will post the cost to camp at the park, and the park entry fee (but it's a very small fee for both). If you choose to stay at a h/motel, I should have some approximate prices by the end of the week. The only other cost is food and beverage and/or night time entertainment.

We'd love to meet you if you can make it!

It's a bit farther than that. I would plan on 3 to 3.5 hours. Barstow's is a good 30 minutes outside of Austin.

Thanks DD!

I didn't account for the extra distance to Barstows - I would plan on about 3 hours (since I live on the far west side of Houston....) - if you were coming from downtown or Clear Lake, tack on another 1/2 hour or so +/-.

And, if there are enough folks coming from Houston, it's possible that there could be some carpooling action.... with riders sharing a cost of the gas with drivers....

Since no one has volunteered to be your roommate and I feel the need to accept this assignment in good faith for all of my fellow brothers on the board!!!!
