Portal Page?

However we lose the portal page (the one that has your picture on it, tells you who was last online...who's birthday's it is...etc.) and the Galleries.
Rebuilding the Galleries by hand is an option (although painful) but an option still to ensure that we make the new upgrade. (The new upgrade has an easier interface, allows for chat, and other features we want to add to the site!) But...we can't seem to make the portal work....or at least not the one that comes with the message board. (We can however offer a portal page using another s/w that actually has more features.)
So the question is...Do you want or need a portal page?
1. I have to have a portal page for my SD experience to be complete.
2. I really don't like the portal page...it makes it harder to find the forums especially for new users.
3. I don't really care one way or the other.

I will go with #3. I usually just blow through the portal to get to the forums anyhow.

One thing I really would miss about it is the Last Topics feature.

By all that is wet, I do hereby swear, (politely), and attest, upon pain of never diving again, (real or imagined), that I understand and affirm, that I agree to the above.

A chat system?! Hmmm... Must remember to set up a macro to save on typing "So, what are you wearing right now?" over and over...
Wait, I mean a macro for "Hi!" Yeah, that's it.
then I'm amazed every day that the sun decides to rise
every minute, every hour, is another chance to change
life is beautiful & terrible & strange.

So I'm a #3 leaning towards #1 (only because I drank too much)

Of course, we can then always set up the macro for "Lipstick and a smile..."I do use the portal page, but usually just to see the list of new posts, so I wouldn't miss it if it was gone.

I would have to agree with Annasea, I too use the Portal page as my link to everything else.I personally use the Portal page as my default page for the forum so I'd be sad to see it go, but I'm sure I could adapt.
One thing I really would miss about it is the Last Topics feature.
I like to see who's on-line and what recent topics are drawing the attention of the members and guests out there.
I would be sad to see it go.
I really do enjoy swimming around on it
