This has absolutely nothing to do with diving, but it does have something to do with remaining single or not.

I'd like to end the quote with...who knew he/she was a diver so the final decision will be geared in that direction!

Well in that case:

I will stop there and give everyone else a chance... :P

I think it's time this thread was resuscitated (did I even spell that right?).

"Water is the driving force of all nature." Leonardo da Vinci
...who knew he was a diver...

"I never drink water because of the disgusting things that fish do in it." W. C. Fields
...who knew he was a diver... :D

"Ocean: A body of water occupying about two-thirds of a world made for man - who has no gills." Ambrose Bierce
...who knew he was a diver...

"The water in a vessel is sparkling; the water in the sea is dark. The small truth has words which are clear; the great truth has great silence." Rabindranath Tagore
...who knew he was a diver...

On of my faves, particularly if one deletes the "you know" from it: "Water is always a support or a healing thing apart from, you know, love or peace of mind." Nastassja Kinski
...who knew she was a diver...

Another one of my faves, taken in its entirety: "Water is life's matter and matrix, mother and medium. There is no life without water." Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
...who knew he was a diver...

Truly profound: "Out of the water, I am nothing." Duke Kahanamoku
...who knew he was a diver...

And finally, from a politician, no less, a comment which is simple, direct, elegant: "It's the water. Everything is driven by the water." Mike Thompson
...who knew he was a diver...

This is a quote from a bird. Please don't be offended. I realize we're all marine mammals here. Well, except for the SD mermaids. Wait, I think some of them are mammals too.

Since this is an experienced sea bird who said this, I found wisdom in it.

"You all know the Penguin Credo... It's 'Never swim alone.'" ~ Skipper, The Madagascar Penguins in: A Christmas Caper (2005)

The first time I read the SD logo, on an SDer's T-shirt, I remembered what Skipper said. It makes sense; Why dive alone?

Awesome and I love the original one too!

Question on this one:

If there is magin on the planet, it is contained in the water.
~ Loren Eisley

Is that a typo...meaning the word is magic?

Life originated in the sea, and about 80% of it is still there.
~ Isaac Asimov

Does that 80% figure include all the people who are divers, and are actually on a dive? Maybe there are more people returning to their origins than when Isaac said this. Ready? "Who knew he was a diver?" What if he was talking about species? In that case, the entire 6,790,062,216 (pop. forecast for 2009JUL01) of us could jump back into the Originate and it would still be 80%. Aww, bummer. "We must, however, acknowledge, as it seems to me, that man with all his noble qualities... still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his lowly origin." ~ Charles Darwin, wannabe SCUBA diver? I can't wait until MY life is, once again, at LEAST 80% on (or in/on) the Sea.

As a land creature, it's easy to imagine roughing it on a high desert for a night. It's difficult to imagine myself being underwater for 100 hours. How much time do we have to stay in the Sea to declare that we live there? "Evolving into a fish isn't easy." ~ Wakemaker, wannabe Orca
