This is a true story.

There was this girl who thought that this guy was really a hottie.

He was always dating the cheerleader and homecoming queen types (Politically correct disclaimer: NOT THAT THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THAT!) who were very attractive women.

She didn't think of herself as being very pretty, but she was smart, confident and athletic.

He was a diver.

None of his girlfriends were divers.

She wasn't either, so she learned. This wasn't easy during the macho days of the sport.

She began diving in his group. He noticed her. He admired her and found out how cool she really was. He dropped the cheerleaders and homecoming queens and started dating her. They fell in love. They got married.

She made history by being the first woman to do something amazing.

Does anyone know who she is and what she's most known for accomplishing?

If this is history, I'm not sure. Dr. Sylvia Earle came to mind but I don't think her husband, Dr. Giles Mead, dated cheerleaders and prom queens. If this is predictive, maybe it refers to my first wife (who I have yet to meet). After all, I dated cheerleaders in my day. Sigh.

Was it this handsome couple, Hans and Lotte Hass? (If she didn't think of herself as very pretty, she must not have had any mirrors).

Bill, I think Dr. Sylvia Earl is who Lattitude Adjustment meand by "The Queen of the Deep." Again, a good guess and very insightful since you know who she married. Knowing who are mystery lady married may be helpful. He was a known diver in his own right, but his wife's accomplishments have made her the more well-known.

I didn't say our mystery lady was pretty (beauty is in the eye of the beholder as people know), I just said she didn't think of herself as pretty.

Valerie Taylor, Aussie diver best known as a shark filmmaker. Good try. I'm liking these exotic women you guys are thinking up, but nope.

No... I met Audrey Mestre and she was STUNNING (she HAD to know it!), along with being smart, athletic & confident... so that's a good guess. French freediving champion married to Pipin Ferreras, the Cuban freediving champion. More exotic dive heroines. Love it!

Well,

it has to be our own Wreck Wench, then!

Let's see... running a dotcom with a message board in which the guys who drank the BLACK cherry Kool Aid haven't taken over and are now telling everyone that they are are all a bunch of strokes and are going to die just because they want to go to Fiji... yep... pretty amazing, but nope.

I also don't think Kamala doesn't think she's pretty, she just thinks her drysuit makes her look fat. My advice to her, don't inflate the suit before looking in the mirror.

Keep thinking...
