So SD is offering its first Nitrox class under PDIC at the NE Techreational Clinics. For more information click here!

So I was thinking why did divers start diving nitrox in the first place?

Got certified initially because it was touted as a 'safer' gas for shallow diving (under 100')... After diving it for a while, I really like the benefits to recovery rates... Post dive fatigue is almost non-existent. I don't notice any real difference while I'm using it, but I sure notice the differences after the dive.

I'll be sucking it down this weekend when making numerous training dives with OW, AOW and Deep Diver students. I load less Nitrogen, thus allowing me more water time.

Ditto! I definately notice the difference in energy level post-dive when on Nitrox, especially when making several dives in one day. The increased bottom time is nice too!

Hear…Hear…I truly feel less tired after diving with Nitrox, especially after multiple day dives. :birthday:

Ditto to above. Longer dive times, less fatigue and less nitrogen in the system to worry about!

:birthday:

You need to seek out a Fill Station that charges by the cubic foot...Most days, I hit gas on the way out of the Springs, and a refill to 3600 for my LP95 runs 4 and small change after two Cavern/Intro level dives...

When I was getting the "empty and leave overnight" stuff I TO was paying out the wazoo... :twist:

Just be SURE to monitor total OX intake during the day...it CAN mount up if you are rep deep diving!

Kamala asked, "Why did DIVERS start using NITROX in the first place?" Those attending the clinic will be finding out the incredibly interesting truth. :teeth:

Nicolle will just have to wait for the PNW event before she can enjoy enlightening her students. YOU WILL LOVE WHY! :lmao:

I bet Norm doesn't even know despite his cave experience. :cool2:

Oh, by the way, we'll somehow bribe those attending the event not to tell you all -- yet. :P

I got certified because my dive shop includes it with OW training and prebanks EAN36 :cool2: .

I kept using it because I like more bottom time on repetitive dives.

Non-existent in the Great Lakes unless you have an arrangement with the fill station like I do at my dive shop because I blend my own gas. They charge me by the cubic ft.

Trace

Trace,

Since I started in the Daze of Deep Air, AFAIR, one of the reasons then was the (mistaken) concept that less PPN2 led to lowered Narcosis. This, of course, before O2 was recognized AS a narcotic gas ITSELF... :lmao:

The Big Dogs were already doing O2 deco, and most Techie shops did have a big green cylinder...Nitrox was a bit on the Outlaw side then; you KNEW that some guys were breathing gas, they just wouldn't fess up! :D
