Notice that on the front page of the forum list, that where it lists who's on, I frequently see "guests".

For example a moment ago there were: 2 guests, 4 members 1 anonymous members listed as being on.

Who/what are guests?

When a person is in the process of registering on our site...they show up as 'Guest' to the rest of us!

As for anonymous...it is a feature you can enable although we are thinking about turning it off.

I figured mods/admins can see the "invisible" folks.

Not exactly hiding... just like times like now... I'm "sneaking" on from the office. So I'm here, but not really. Would hate to have a member think I'm ignoring PMs and the like, just because work is interferring with chatting!

I personally don't like the anonymous function....makes me feel like someone is lurking in the background and it gives me the willies!

but if you go on your portal, you actually see who just logged in an can make the connection between who's the anonymous one by the name not listed as a user online - if your not a mod/admin that is. also, if you were "anonymous" would your online/offline designation still register as "online"? i admit i use it sometimes, but it usually those days that i'm logging on to read previous threads or cleaning out my pm box.

I tend to open a browser window first thing upon getting to work & leave it open for easy access all day. I may not close the browser until I leave work.Today, I had a browser window open all day but was in training so I was never really there! makes you mischievous ones think a little though.... Same thing at home- open up sd.com, read through stuff, go do other things, come back & check it again periodically. I used to go to the site in the morning before I left for work but it was making me run late to work!!
