Since I didn't intend a life of celibacy and because I view sex a little differently than some (I don't necessarily get emotionally attached just because I am having it) I have not had any hesitation in going the whole 9 yards without that ring.
While I would never be critical of those who prefer to wait until a commitment is established (personal choice is respected), I do think your attitude seems "healthier" (oops, that's judgmental) than that of many "Americans" who either go overboard sexually or are very restrictive due to externally imposed mores and guilt.
How something so natural became so imbued with intense emotional feelings is beyond me. However, it is much better with a strong feeling for one's partner (other than "pure" lust).

Dr Bill, I couldn't agree more to both statements! While sex is definitely infinitely better when feelings are involved, it is still a natural act that we need not feel ashamed of or try to hide. Yes, given the risks associated with sex, precautions must be used to protect oneself but, for mature adults, it certainly should not be a taboo subject tucked behind a closet door.
If a ring is that important, I've got 7 rings (and six studs)

!00% of all divorced couples were married.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Having been married for 25 years as of 2-21-06, I learned one thing.
It's a work in progress.
No matter what you do you must work at relationships to make them work.
Darlene and I did not agree on everything, but we did share it all.

HMMMM>>>> seems I have had discussions with many women about the difference between having sex and making love...and there is a difference....Now I have had just plain out hot and heavy sex with a man I am involved with but have never made love to someone I wasn't.
