We hear a lot about water these days and how its so good for us. But is it that important? We all know its important for diving...and we even know we need to *hydrate* before diving to help prevent DCS but what does that mean?

How much water do we need?

Aren't other fluids such as coffee, tea, soda...as good?

Why don't most people like to drink water?

Why do most people dislike the taste of water?

And finally what is your favorite complaint for not drinking the clear stuff?

1. How much water do we need?
About 64 oz a day

2. Aren't other fluids such as coffee, tea, soda...as good?
No. The cafene acts to dehydrate you (although not as much as we are led to believe)
And the sugars and additives create more work for the body to get the needed water.

3. Why don't most people like to drink water?
I would say because of the lack of sweetness and flavor.

4. Why do most people dislike the taste of water?
In too many cases, the water has a bad taste from treatment or from being "hard"
In the case of pure water, it is the absence of any taste that bothers people.

5. And finally what is your favorite complaint for not drinking the clear stuff?
Because I know what fish and divers do in water. :teeth:
Olympic diving is a sport. Scuba diving is an obsession.

I drink water all the time. I have a personal water cooler at home. I may have some coffee in the morning, but that's about it. I don't like soda and all the crap that's in it.

Ah, finley, isn't wine fermented, as in it has natural carbonation?

That's why I drink Jager :D

I love the taste of pure spring water. and where I live there are plenty of natural springs puring the H2o out all day. I just wish I had invested in the bottled water companies long before it became popular to drink it :welcome: and Walmart Stock also :welcome:
