It has been a hard day. My grandfather passed away very early this morning. I always had a very special connection to my grandfather and that connection remained up until his last days. I had a chance to fly out to see him a week and a half ago to say my goodbyes and that connection was still there. I will miss him so much.

This is a copy of his obituary:

TEICHMAN – Joseph Teichman passed away peacefully on April 12, 2006 at Copernicus Lodge in Toronto, Ont. He was 95-years old. Joseph was born in Dabkow (Lubaczow), Poland on March 13, 1911. In 1926, 15-years old, with only a suitcase in-hand, Joseph clearly demonstrated his pioneer spirit when he immigrated entirely on his own to his uncle’s and aunt’s farm in East Selkirk, Manitoba. Two years later, he permanently moved to Toronto. Joseph is survived by Stephanie, his loving wife of 68-years, his son George (Toronto, Ont.), his daughter Camille Tribe (Mt. Lehman, BC), three grandchildren, Sean Tribe (Ivy Lake, BC), Michelle Tribe (Vancouver, BC) and Sarah Teichman (Toronto, Ont.) and one great-grandchild Robbie Tribe (Ivy Lake, BC). An avid fisherman and hunter, Joseph will best be remembered for his love of joke-telling and his devotion to his family. Respecting his wishes, Joseph will be cremated, with no service. In lieu of flowers, donations to Copernicus Lodge Foundation, 66 Roncesvalles Ave., Toronto, Ont. M9R 3A7 would be gratefully appreciated.

oh darlin' I am so sorry to hear that. :lmao: What a lovely obituary and I have a feeling your Grandfather saw much of his spirit in you.

My thoughts will be with you and your family during this time.

Michelle - so sorry to hear of your loss. Thank you so much for sharing with us. My thoughts are with you.

Michelle, thanks for sharing this with us, please accept my most sincere condolences. As one who never knew either grandfather in my family and had very shaky relationships at best with my grandmothers, I am envious of folks like you who had good relationships with grandparents and can only imagine what you must feel. As Neptuner said, please know that your grandpa will continue to live on inside of you.

My most sincere condolences to you and your family, and prayers for the "peace that passes all understanding" to be with you all. :diver:

Sounds like a great testimony of the human spirit. I also want to lift up in praise that marriage of 68 years!
