Deep Thoughts Thursday

Some of my favorite deep thoughts:
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."

"Where is Mom?"
"You made her cry, she ran away, and she's never coming back. Learn to deal with me."
The Handy I liked most was:
"A good way to threaten somebody is to light a stick of dynamite. Then you call the guy and hold the burning fuse up to the phone. 'Hear that?' you say. 'That's dynamite, baby.' "
The other I remember, but not sure if it's a Jack Handy -
"If you love something, let it go. If it loves you, it will return. If it doesn't, track it down, stalk it, and kill it."
Jacques Yves Cousteau

I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.
then I'm amazed every day that the sun decides to rise
every minute, every hour, is another chance to change
life is beautiful & terrible & strange.

My grandfather liked to whittle. Once he whittled a toy boat for me out of a bigger toy boat. It looked exactly the same except that it was smaller and had whittle marks all over it.

They say that a dog can understand around 17 words of human - why can't I find someone that knows even one word of dog?

Contrary to what most people say, the most dangerous animal in the world is not the lion or the tiger or even the elephant. It's a shark riding on an elephant's back, just trampling and eating everything they see.
My new favorite is:
If dogs ever take over the world someday and they decide to choose a king, I hope they just don't go by size because I bet there are some Chihuahuas out there with some pretty good ideas.
---My chihuahua's certainly think so!

You must have fascinating nightmares.

He is a US humorist. He achieved wide popularity for his "Deep Thoughts" on a US comedy television show "Saturday Night Live" - they would spoof the "inspirational moments" with a pithy bit of one-liner humor.OK, i am trying to get a handle on this one but I am failing dismally. Who, or what is Jack Handy? I have heards of Murphy's law but not Handy.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. "Oh, no," I said. "Disneyland burned down." He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.
