This kind of derives from a thread on CHUM. What exercise do you do and how often/long do you do them?

Personally I've been training in the Martial Arts for about 13-14 years. I did 10 years of Tae Kwon Doe and for the past 3-4 years I've trained in Aikido. I train 2 hours a day 3 - 4 times a week.

I work the upper body about 45 minutes a few times a week. Once it's over 47 degrees in the mornings I'll start commuting to work on the bike which is a 21 mile RT but till then it's just been weekend rides and a few evenings.

I've always been a cardio junkie....but kept gaining weight...hmmm I said...and others showed me the positives of easing up some and cross training....so my goal is some type of "fformal excercise" 5 times per week.....however with kids in a myriad of activities it is not always easy.....but I have learned that walking "counts" and is excellent....so today I walked for an hour and did some basic core work....tommorrow ...YOGA...my long winded point is....doing what you can is better than doing nothing at all.
who's leading this parade anyway?

Exercise for me is a must to keep my weight down, mood up, and dive time longer...

I need a gym to get me motivated...something about misery loves company :teeth:

3 x per week - running on treadmill (3 mi) and 20 min on elliptical, 2 x per week - weight lifting with emphasis on endurance and not bulk... about 1x per week laps in the pool.

When warmer weather hits, I will substitute hiking in the Blue Ridge or Shenandoah mountains for the gym cardio.

I reley on my scuba diving and working outside in my garden to provide me with the exercise I need. other than that just keeping the weight off by not eating Junk is an exercise in itself !. I weighed the differance between going to a Gym, and the distance to get there, against putting the extra money towards diving.

its a close call ?

I run (not far) at least 3 miles every other day and 8 on weekends when I have more time( I am really slow). Had to give up weights as the arthritis in my wrists has become a nuisance.

Suggestions on dealing with arthritis are welcome.

Definatly going to the gym is what I enjoy doing. During the 3 1/2 months while I was unemployed I used to go everyday, now I'm lucky to get there at all, however that is changing as I re-vamp my schedule to accomplish going everyday again.

What I do generally is 30-45 mins on Cardio (elliptical cross trainers), then move onto doing about 60 sit-ups or more, then alternate days between working on my lower body and upper body with the weight machines.

I know it sounds like a lot, but the energy I have after working out and watching what I eat along with how great I feel is well worth the 2 hours I spend up there working out.

I'm in the gym mon-fri (wkends kept free for diving :D ). I do 1/2 hour on the treadmill to warm up, then about 1 hr circuit training. I have become addicted to protein shakes as well, so since January have dropped about 20lbs and an overall 6in. My 5mil's gonna be too big this year :P

I walk almost everywhere (and I live on top of a hill). Since I dive 3-4 times a week, lugging my dive gear is another form of exercise. My fingers also get a great workout on the computer keyboard when I'm on the boards or editing video.

When I get the urge to exercise, I just lie down until the feeling passes.

Actually, I will usually take my 2 German Shepherds out for a few hours... it is like having a couple of three-year-olds around ALL the time!
