Not to get picky but....
1)I didn't realize you're Canadian, both those wrecks are in Canadian waters
2)I didn't realize the US navy had a boat named after a Canadian city, that should be HMCS Saskatchewan

1. Since I have to drive 3+ hours to get to any diveable water, the PNW waters are home to me, so that includes your fabulous waters. While it's not in my backyard (5 hrs), I enjoy diving there, but I'm more than happy to recuse myself from further promoting Canadian waters, sorry?
2. Doh - quick typing leads to embarassing mistakes. It's been corrected. I'm just happy I spelled Saskatchewan! :birthday:

The fact you can spell Saskatchewan does qualify you for honnory Canadian status....I had to copy the spelling off you.

Hey i have been inside the 352 3 or 4 times, it is a nice penetration, i went in forward of the conning tower, i will tell you that it certainly is tight, and real silty, i had a muddy mud skipper behind me one time and it sure made a nice 0 vis exit. I wouldnt try to penetrate with more than a buddy team per entry point, turning around can be challenging when in a buddy team, but it certainly is fun. I would love to see those schematics.

Chris, thanks for the info!! I don't want to create a clusterblech!

I concur with Chris.
It can go to 0 vis sooooo damn fast.
If you aint the first thru it sucks.
Make sure you have good lines tied off well.

My suggestion for everyone, if it is feasible, is to do two dives on her, and switch up buddy teams who penetrate per dive. However, depending on the amount of divers on board who are not penetrating, the good ole sub can be quite boring for a repeat dive. It is not a long sub, so one dive is adequate for regular wreck divers doing the perimiter dive.

Oh and look out for the undetonated depth charge off to the starboard side, depending on the sand level you can sometimes see it, my suggestion would be to avoid whacking at it with hammers or crow bars!

I've been on the outside when Vinny was inside and I couldn't see him. :cool1: Just lots of silt.

I'm not a hog and will be diving NC again - so I can always hang outside if we are concerned with the number of divers penetrating. I find any dive exciting. No need for a cluster, but we can iron out all those details closer to the dive time. I'm still interested in seeing the scan.

OK...lets see if this works. I scanned in images of a Type VIIB and Type VIIC. The U-352 is a Type VII C, but the interior layout is basically the same and the VIIB schematic has an overhead view. Remember, the only thing left is the pressure hull--outlined with the darker line. Penetration is through the fwd torpeado loading hatch (tight, but doable with dbl 80s), fwd batter hatch (nice and big) or aft galley hatch (very tight). The conning tower is open but it's too tight for anything but a look.

As DG, Brian and Howard are form out of town I can hang outside. But, we could always hit her on seperate days... think Kamala owes us that, right Brian?

I think that we are up for the challenge to go through without silting everything out. No reason we can't all go through (even if we have to break up into a couple of teams). :wakawaka:

Honestly though, since the CCR thing is new and will take a while for me to get to the level of where I was on open circuit, I might be the one to stir things up. (So, now you can have someone convenient to blame it on. :) )

Well depending on the size of the doubles, if I get them, or the 100 - those will be the biggest tanks I've ever manuevered. I'm likely bringing my smaller set of SP jets though!

As I said, we will have to see. My double 130's may not even allow me through the hatch to penetrate.

As to two trips out there, I have another idea in mind that I have been asking people about. If we can do it, I doubt that we will have two trips to the U-Boat, but will have more great diving. I don't want to get anyone going, so we will have to discuss it among the whole group down there.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.

Brian the hatch forward of the conning tower may let you through with 130's, i am no little guy and i was able to get in through that hatch with twin 100's. I realize 130's are monsters, but you may be able to maneuver your way in.

I think discussing the diving as a group is a great idea. I know that coming all the way from the other side of the country and diving these sites for the first time, I would like to dive as many sites as possible - thus avoiding two dives on any one site. If that means sitting out a penetration dive, fine. I would enjoy 8 different sites! :lmao:
