Why would a newspaper let the facts get in the way of a good headline? I used to believe what I read untill my parents were in a car accident and the paper didn't have any of the facts right other than the intersection where it happened. Years later a local paper did a story about my farm, another not so local paper liked the story but changed it enough without interviewing us so that it wouldn't be recognized as plagiarism but now the facts were wrong.

Yikes. What isn't wrong with all of this? Other than being divers, these guys have little to redeem themselves.

Good news is eventually the gene pool will get another thinning.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

So, in the end, it had nothing to do with the scuba tanks themselves. It had only to do with his "fill station" setup.

Of course, who knows when an accident on the other end of the fill line would happen? Based upon what is posted, it is stated that the guy has no training to do fills like this. Who knows what kind of equipment--such as a non-O2 service fill whip--he was using.

I would change this title to: "Get Proper Training and Use Proper Equipment For Blending." I think that this is a little more accurate and less sensational than the title to this thread.

I can see some sensationalism in the write-up. I won't comment on the specifics.

However, it was worse than I assumed. This guy was asking for a major problem and finally got it. I am with SDM on this one.

Agreed, I fill my own tanks as well (as I think about the 500 cubic feet of nitrox that that I am taking to Toby with me this weekend between me and my dive buddy). If you take the precautions, this isn't a huge issue.
