Location: Lake Jocassee

Dives: Morning 9:00 until 1:00 / 2 tanks included
Afternoon 2:00 until 6:00 / 2 tanks included
on boats from Off The Wall Dive Charters

Cookout: following the afternoon dive charter at
Off the Wall Dive Charters shop.

Food: Hotdogs, Hamburgers, and trimmings furnished by OTW

Drinks: BYO Bottle or can

Bonfire: at dusk until the next day. You have to see this pile of wood.

Dives are $30 each, including tanks. The picnic is free to members of SD otherwise price is $5 a head payable at the event.

Bring a blanket or Chair, Sleep under the stars, pitch a tent on site, or camp at the park.

How to Book a Spot for this Event:

1. Post a post in this thread that you plan to join us. We'll then put your name on the 'check in the mail' list.
2. Let us know if you are camping or getting a hotel and if you are looking for a roommate.
3. Send your payment for the boat via check, money order, credit card or paypal.

A Payment Update!

Hey Everybody!

Since this event is this coming weekend, if you're paying by check, you can just give it to OTWdiver, aka Bill, and he will send them on to Dallas for you! How easy is that??

However, please keep telling us who is attending so OTW can plan for the charter and plan for food too!

Would it be ok to bring a covered dish also...just in case Bill burns the burgers? May be a good diver but I dont know about his cooking. Besides it would be nice just to chip in something different. Hope to see many there from SD. Jocassee is a very clean lake and nice views to go with it. Looking forward to meeting new people and hope to see many there.

Here is a little info on the state park, reservations are recomended....unless you just want to tent camp...then we can take over Bill's back 40..you should see the wood for the bonfire..WOW

Reservation Policy
Campground

Two (2) night stay required for reservation.
Reservation must be made 24 hrs. in advance and may be made 11 months in advance.
Campsites are non-transferable.
Cancellations must be made 24 hrs. in advance and will be charged a $15 handling fee.
Mountain Villas

Fifty percent deposit required at the time a reservation is made. Mastercard or Visa, Cash or Check
Two night minimum on weekdays
Three night package most weekends
Holidays are nightly rates
Memorial Day to Labor Day: Weekly rentals only, Monday to Monday, or Friday to Friday.
Labor Day to Memorial Day: Three nights on weekends, 2 night minimum weekdays.
Cancellations 15 days notice required for full refund less a $15 handling fee. We must have your original receipt to process refund.

Unfortunately this is a couple weeks early for me....maybe next time!!!

I will have you know I do pretty well with a grill. But I won't complain if there are a few covered item to fill in blanks. Things happen.
The temps at the lake are 81 degree surface, 66 degree at 60 ft. mid 50's at 130 ft and 40 degree at 200 ft. That should cover everyone's questions about temps. We had 20+ ft vis on Sat at 60 ft, but it fell off to 10-15ft on Sunday. Back up to 20 ft vis today at 60 foot. Go figure. We had about 40-50 foot vis at 130ft on Sunday and the same at 200 ft. The lake is down about 7 ft below full pond. So you can go deeper without going deeper.

I heard there was gonna be fireworks.. Hey this will be a GREAT time.. For those who have never been to Lake Jacassee ( my speeeler is broke) yall are in for a treat!! This is one of the most scenic lakes east of the miss.

Lookin forward to meetin other SD folks!

Ok, Where is the form to register, or can I just say register me? Maybe I'm getting too old and just looked over the registration part. I need help! I just can't see a thing without my glasses. Hope to see a lot of people there. It is a very nice lake and dive location.

I fixed it! I added a running tally of who is planning to attend. I'd attend myself except that's a long way to go for a hamburger!

Dang this sounds like fun! Bill aka OTWDiver you and NCDiver43 are knocking yourselves out with this! I hope the turnout keeps growing!

Just remember...the Washington DC area started its first Happy Hour and Local events with 3 people and that was only a year ago. Now they regularily have 50+ at events!

Since I'll be traveling...Kim aka Fingrabber will be monitoring paypal, the fax machine for credit card authorization forms and of course the mail for checks so that we can show you paid!
