My thoughs and prayers are with you and Roy's family.
In the end we will conserve only what we love; we will love only what we underdstand; and we will only understand what we are taught. -Baba Dioum

The diving community of NC and Va will suffer as a whole with the loss of a true gentleman, a diving professional, a man who taught thru example and a guy who taught me some of the finer points of diving, and dive mastering! I am proud to have had worked beside him for years, but more proud to have called him"FRIEND"!!
For those of you who knew Roy I hope this will make you smile as that simple task has been equally difficult for me as of late. Roy was drivng my boat back in from one of those wonderful days diving that we spent so many together. I asked him when he had completed the docking of the somewhat bigger boat then he had been used to " Were ya nervous Roy?" and he said with that dry humor " What the hell for? It ain't MY boat!!
I'll miss ya Capt 360!!

Kamala
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, and the greater loss to the diving community.

It is good to know that his loss was not in vain, but I know that does not ease the pain you must be feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and all who knew and loved him.
Cheers,
Teresa,

Sounds like the Capt Roy that I was trading comments with about our time in the Navy. He was truly a great guy to be around.
A person should be judged in this life not by the mistakes that they make nor by the number of them. Rather they are to be judged by their recovery from them.

Roy's birthday has just recently passed and yet once again my heart has been torn out. However today out of the blue I received a gift from God. His beautiful wife Kim reached out to me to let me know that she was thinking of me and that she wanted me to know some recent news about Roy.

While overwhelmed with emotion, I calmed my soul by knowing that this brave and wonderful woman reached out to me when I should have been reaching out to her. Oh sure I had a number or legtimate reasons as to why I haven't reached out to her recently (despite how good they are i.e. phone number in my phone which was fried on the last NC trip, no email for her, etc. they all = excuses!)

So while feeling ashamed that I had not reached out to her recently, I receive this wonderful email and I call her and we laugh and cry and catch up again talking about this incredible man (who for the record married an incredible woman certainly worthy of his unending love and respect and he hers) and she surprises me saying that she would like to join the site. :P So I'm hoping she will do so soon and I will send her this link so she can see the well wishes that our community has offered her and her husband. She is also a divemaster and diving professional as well as a health care professional and ahem...the best thing to happen to Roy if I may say for a man that deserved that and more!
