Kamala, you are the greatest! I booked two weeks ago and you made this all happen. I wouldn't be surprised if you could make it happen for someone who wanted to book tonight.
I also will be taking photos, above & below, but mine are more like snapshots. I usually post photos on Yahoo for all to share.
So I'm off tomorrow at 8:00 AM for my drive to Denver, then on to NYC. See you all on Thursday.

I just called Jet Blue to check on my domestic flight..I don't have a conformation number so they won't confirm my flight on Thurs. I am getting very... a retentive on this!!!! I don't have a ticket to egypt either..but I have a T shirt and luggage tags. We have 1 day left!!!!!
I sent your confirmation number and flight details to you this evening for Egypt Air. I noticed that the Jet Blue confirmation number was missing. I'll have it in the morning and get it to you asap.
Your domestic flight is e-ticket and it seems our international flight is as well. Egypt Air was doing a change over from paper to electronic and it appears it happened already. So NO ONE WILL RECEIVE A HARD COPY TICKET. You will get a copy of your intinery only which I also have a copy of and have sent everyone their confirmation numbers.
Hazel I'll have your domestic conf number for you in the morning. Kamala

Wish I had known that before I went. Good tip! From the airport, taxi fares are a flat rate with the authorised drivers who approach you in the arrivals hall. 64LE to Giza, therefore expect about 50/55LE to Zamalek/Marriot. Only tourists haggle taxi fares and as a result will generally pay more. Say you are a regular business visitor if they challenge you for a vastly inflated fare. This is why I learned "ana mish rrabeya" (I am not stupid).

And is there a great way to get a bunch of small denomination LE?I take it we can go to a local bank in Cario to exchange US currency to EGP?
There is a bank in the Marriot Mall, plus ATM's to draw cash. When exchanging large amounts, try not to let them give you a large number of 100LE notes back - they can be difficult to change and a popular trick to get more money out of you is "I have no change". "Ana mish rrabeya" is your reply. Small denomination notes (5LE, 10LE and 20LE) - ask for them when exchanging $, the hotel concierge, or as Simon says - support the local economy. Drinkies is a good start Mike - they are open late too (24 hours in Zamalek I think...)

Wee - Do they still have the exit fee when you leave the Cairo airport grounds?

Cars, taxis and bus drivers pay an exit fee - for parking/pick up access. Individual passengers do not.
