I am always up for whalesharks. So any trip designed around that is good for me. I would like to do the Wakatobi trip. I can't travel from Thanksgiving until the 2nd week of Jan due to my job and a good part of August is out. But I'm game for most any other time.

I just need to figure out how to get all the payments done on time to book the trips. I'm trying to work out the Nekton trip and at the same time the payments are due for the Holbox trip. So to do another trip besides Wakatobi next year it will depend on the timing for payments.

Can anyone ballpark these 2007 trips? I know we have some affluent members, but my budget simply won't allow me to drop $3k for a dive trip.

NC may work, Flower Gardens may work.

I'm sad there's nothing in the keys, bimini, no domestic cold water, and nothing inland. I guess the lakes don't tickle anyone's fancy as a dive destination either. St. Lawrence River maybe?

I second this. You have some Awesome trips listed, but it would be great to see a trip or two that would be under $2k w/airfare. Since I'm landlocked I don't get to take many trips to the ocean. When I have to shell out that much money for one trip, it tends to be my only trip for the year.

Great request...and we are working very hard to keep the numbers up there of great travel at even better prices! Here is what we have with and without airfare!

As for trips in 2007 that are $1000 or under BEFORE AIRFARE...we have quite a few:

1. NC July
2. NC Oct
3. Flower Gardens
4. Bahamas Explorer Ventures Liveaboard
5. Grenada Singles Week in June
6. Roatan Singles Week Labor Day
7. Cooper River diving for Prehistoric Shark Teeth
8. Oriskany (still be finalized for Nov)

Trips that are close to $1000 BEFORE AIRFARE:

1. Holbox/Cozumel/Cenotes $1391
2. Saba, St Kitts, Estacia, St Marteen $1595

As for trips in 2007 that are $1500-$1600 or less WITH AIRFARE...we have quite a few:

1. NC July
2. NC Oct
3. Flower Gardens
4. Bahamas Explorer Ventures Liveaboard
5. Grenada Singles Week in June
6. Roatan Singles Week Labor Day
7. Cooper River diving for Prehistoric Shark Teeth
8. Oriskany (still be finalized for Nov)

Trips that are close to $2000 WITH AIRFARE:

1. Holbox/Cozumel/Cenotes $1391
2. Saba, St Kitts, Estacia, St Marteen $1595

Thank you for the chance to answer this...as our regular members know...if you need us to work with you on payments/timing etc. just let us know. We want you to go diving...we can in many circumstances be flexible. Just ask! :cheerleader:

As for whalesharks...we have them in August this year but you said August is bad. Not sure if we can do them in July or not next year. Would like feedback from divers on that.

As for Wakatobi...looks like we are getting more interest...I'll be posting the dates we have locked in so far soon!

Yes, I am going to try to make the August trip this year. I am waiting to hear what my inventory dates are going to be. Keeping fingers crossed that it is early in the month so that I can make this trip.

For next year I would like to see the usual suspects again:
- Flower Gardens
-North Carolina- July
- Cooper River

Also remember the boat we dive on in the Flower Gardens (MV Spree) has begun to offer a week long trip in June to the Tortugas. This is priced at $950 for 5 days of diving. Very reasonable .

I would like to see an organized trip to Ca for the kelp forersts and surrounding area , maybe add a day or two for great whites out of San Diego while there.

Wakatobi sounds very interesting.

I had hoped to go to PNG on a liveaboard next year.

Sea of Cortez is always fun.

The Explorer for New Years Eve ...

Ok just a few suggestions :cheerleader: :cool1:

You can definitely count me in for Wakatobi either with or without the Bali add on. This is #1 on my list for 2008.

If you do a Galapagos trip I'll definitely look at that also. Just need to know the timing on the trips so I can block dates on my calendar. And save those precious vacation days :cheerleader:

I'm sad there's nothing in the keys, bimini, no domestic cold water, and nothing inland. I guess the lakes don't tickle anyone's fancy as a dive destination either. St. Lawrence River maybe?

Take a look here:
Cape Ann Trip
This is a local trip (near Boston) I am putting together for the same reasons you list. It will be in the ~$500 range as I am driving down. If you don't see anything that appeals then there is nothing stopping you from organizing something yourself. WW can advise and help. :)

If you are interested in diving the St Lawrence, I would love to get a group together for that. While I lived in NY I did a lot of diving there, and in fact did several of my certifications in the St Lawrence. The boats tend to be small but if we got enough interest we could charter and keep the group at a manageable size.

We have dove with several operators in the St Lawrence so would be happy to help organize something if there is enough interest!

My drysuit will be here in a few weeks. Let me get comfy with that thing and then I'll be ready to dive some different sites. My 5mm shorty has been pretty limiting in terms of where I could dive.

Since wreck diving is my passion, and I prefer freshwater, the St Lawrence, and the Lakes will be favored dives for me. Probably going to take me a year to get there though.

I am willing to help the site organize a trip to the Great Lakes/ St. Lawrence area if I see some interest. We did a trip to Brockville when the site first started. Given enough cold water divers, I could organize a trip to Lake Huron wrecks for us as that is in my backyard.

2008 is a little far out for me to plan right now as i will probably be looking for a job at that point.

places i would like to go

Great Lakes would be great as by that time i should hopefully have my drysuit by then.

Cooper river is another one i would like to do

Flower gardens - maybe my luck will be better then the two trips in the past, so far im 0-2

Then i can always do NC as it would take me years to see everything

I definitely want to do the Galapagos.
Also I'd be really interested in Sipidan. I saw someone else mention it.
