Valentines Day has been hard for me, even when I've been involved with someone ever since my Mom passed on Feb 12th, 1999. We spent Valentines Day that year finalizing her funeral and consoling my Grandmother

Valentine's Day is usually a sad one for me... if I really think about it. Not traumatic, but it does make me think about what I say I really want in my future. I'd much rather celebrate it as a day for lovers (in all senses of the word) than "celibate" it as Singles Independence Day. I guess I'm just a hopeless romantic.

Actually I can't remember the last time I celebrated it with someone I cared about. It must have been my "ex" (GF) Janet and that would be in 1999.

However, there's a cure for everything. If I get "depressed" about it, I just go diving and forget all about it! Then eat a box of chocolates all by myself.

Apparently divers in relationships aren't allowed to go away that week so airfare to Cozumel is cheaper, $274 from Newark non-stop, rooms plentiful and boat Captains hungry so a bunch of us single but not buddyless this week are going to take advantage of it :welcome:
Maybe SingleDivers should have a Single's Independence Day in Coz next year!

Further, I void any right to privacy, (real or imagined), as it may, or may not relate to any posting, (real or imagined), about me, to me, for me, because of me, all about me, my dog, my cat, my bird, my monkey, my family, (real or imagined), my friends, (real or imagined), or my world, (real or imagined).

By all that is wet, I do hereby swear, (politely), and attest, upon pain of never diving again, (real or imagined), that I understand and affirm, that I agree to the above.

I think the evil Hallmark empire created Valentine's day to make single people feel bad about themselves and get guys who have wives and GFs in trouble. I see so many guys at work trying to do the right thing for Vday and still get in trouble.
I always have an anti-Vday party for all my single friends but this year it will be in Cozumel!
And I agree...if you have someone special every day should be special...not just 2/14!

Valentine's day is a special day if you are with someone special. If I am not seeing anyone, I don't feel any loss about the day, I simply don't celebrate it. It is simply a symbolic holiday to do something special for that special someone in your life if you happen to have that special someone on that day.

The same thing works for me.
