Hey Gang! Its time to start planning our New Year's Celebration NOW for 2008!

Do you want to dive over New Year's?
Would you like to do a Liveaboard? Bahamas on Explorer Ventures has been suggested!
Would you like to do a land based? If so where?
Would you like to do a cruise? This year the trip dates will work out well for a 3 day or 4 day option. Any interest in this?

Ok I'm going to throw out the first reply... how about a short cruise then landbased for a total of say 7 or 8 days?

I would love to do a liveaboad . The Explorer in the Bahamas sounds great.
It s very reasonably priced, easy to get to and of course I would like to bring in the new year diving.
We could also add on a couple days in the Bahamas if someone wanted to .
So thats my vote..

I'm not sure - are you talking NYE of 2007/NYD of 2008...??

Or Dec 2008/Jan 2009?

I am looking for something this year, nicer than Blackbeards, cheaper than their luxury boat...??

Yes, she's talking about New Years Eve 2007, New Years Day 2008

the Bahamas would be a great place to celebrate and especially on a liveaboard!

Yep, I think so, too. Air would be pricey, but what isn't that week. And it's dead week for most of us anyway.

I had a bad experience on a Blackbeards Dec deadweek trip once - came down with flu onboard, but once the captain made sure it wasn't DCS - I was on my own. I should have got off the boat and used my Trip Ins to take care of me, but I was too ill to deal with that, either.

Traveling with the group would be much safer. BTW, whatever day the liveaboard leaves, it is very important that one be there the day before. Too many things go wrong traveling, especially in the winter, and those who flew in that morning had hell with getting there, diving rented gear, no clothes, etc. after their bags got lost in that storm.

Count me in for a live aboard.

The past 2 years I've made dive trips the week after New Years, the prices have dropped from their "holiday rate" and the airfares have returned to normal. Also, the resorts usually experience a lull.

Time on earth is precious, time underwater even more so. Live life one day at a time. Dive your @$$ off!!!

I was upset this past New Years because, for the first time in 3 years, I couldn't get together with my SD friends - I'm not missing the next one. I kinda got used to Cozy for New Years, but a live aboard could be cool.

Ok gang...I'm going to book the Bahamas Liveaboard on Explorer Ventures for the week including NYE...it will run Sat to Sat....

The price is great...$995 or less...and we'll have TONS of diving plus some chances for activities on shore...

Air will be a tad high but we'll make it up on a better trip price! -ww
