Uhhhhh, yeah!!!!!!I am the only one that chose solitude. I guess that could have been one of the reasons I got divorced.

The first was a scrapbook she made of our first year together. She included the first email I wrote her (we worked at different plants for the same company) and pictures and mementos of things we did. She obviously spent a lot of time putting it together and it was amazing.
The second was a blank leather journal. Not for me to write in, but for her to leave me notes in. And every week or so I get a love note written to me in it, without her letting me know when she is going to. So I check it every few days, and voila! ... something new is written!

My wife has given me two wonderful gifts, easily the best I've gotten from anyone.

Jamie... you and Wendi are both very "lucky" (skilled?) in having one another. Those really are nice gifts involving much thought and love, and they do keep on giving.

However, since I am in VA and my sweetie is in FL, I voted for quality time. When you are apart, you are missing moments. Moments that are lost forever.

This led to me changing my gift giving strategies. Instead buying gifts, I started to make them. Then, it just became natural for me to make a gift instead of buying it. Of course I still buy some gifts (I don’t know how to make multi-karat tennis bracelets, YET!)
But I found that I can normally give a gift that is way more personal then anything I could buy. It’s nice never having to shop in a mall from Sept to Jan. (In fact, I never have to go into malls at all!) Since I’m still friends with many of my ex-girlfriends, I still see a lot of the items I created for them proudly displayed in their new homes.
One of the best gifts I ever gave someone…
(First, a little back story. This was the women that basically left her cheating husband one day and had just about nothing to her name. I wrote about the situation here in another thread.) There were tons of little things she needed. So after a few weeks of compiling a list of the items, I bought or made all of them. Then, Christmas morning, she was given a single envelop. Inside was a hand written card with a clue on it. The clue (which was simply “Our first kiss”) led her to the place in the house that we had our first kiss. In that spot, was a wrapped gift (one of the items she needed) and another handwritten note. Again, the note was for another location. At that location was another gift and another note. About 30 mins later, she had collected all the notes and gifts, she was in tears (the good kind.)
The best gift I ever received was from a friend of mine. Back in 03 I pulled a woman from a burning car. My friend compiled a scrap book of all the newspaper articles, letters I received from her family, and friends, and a few personal notes from her in it. I keep that locked in one of my safes at home!
Everything I know about knots, I learned from Alexander the Great.

Well, her birthday was a week and a half ago and she got a Roberto Coin puffed heart diamond necklace. Looks kind of like this:Jamie... you and Wendi are both very "lucky" (skilled?) in having one another. Those really are nice gifts involving much thought and love, and they do keep on giving.
