1. Fiji
2. Palau
3. Thailand
4. Australia
So the trend seems to be to the South Pacific and people want 2-4 stops for at least a week or close to it I would guess.
To facilitate this we could do a multi-country trip but open it up to individual bookings as well for people who just want to do stop A or perhaps stop A & B. While simple in theory it could be difficult in reality BUT if we shoot for 2009 to do it then it could be workable.
So what do you think?

Good idea in theory. Silly out of the blue idea, but can you just set up 4 regular trips like this:Several suggestions have been made for a multi-country trip to REALLY make it worthwhile.
1. Fiji 1st to 7th
2. Palau 8th to 15th
3. Thailand 16th to 23rd
4. Australia 24th to whatever
Then people can go to just one or do more based on their own schedules or budget. The ones who want to do multiple locations can make air arrangements to be there. Otherwise if you just do one it is just a regular single trip.
I could only do the one I suspect. Thailand would be my #1 choice, but the rest look great too.

plus one thing on something like this the airfare is most likely to be $$$$$ if priced indivdually, so it might be something to consider like the oneworld alliance circle pacific fares which could get all the locations in one booking.
Just as a example i priced out a oneworld explorer ticket for around the world that included 20 flight segments and stopped in 5 continents. All of this was in First Class and would get 39,000+ butt in seat miles and something in the order of 80K FF miles and would qualify for Platnium on AA or One World Saphire status (one level below top teir FF status for those that care). with all of the taxes included the fare was like $7700, now compare this with Flying LAX to SYD in first class booking via airlines websites the ticket is $15-19,000 and would only get like only about 10K FF. The circle Pacific fares would be in the $2,000 range from the US for economy(Fin can you verify the circle pacific fair in economy out of the US).

but, from what I read on the link 'Tooth provided, people would have to travel in a westward or eastward direction and must include 3 continents.
Are Fiji and Palau considered Asia or Australia? Which continent they are part of would affect the order that you do the trip in

in the circle pacific ticket as long as you go in a circle in the same direction anything is possible on the ticket, with in reason you would need to validate the routing with a oneworld partner before purchasing it.
check this link for details on the oneworld circle pacific fares and details. This would be the ticket to do the 4 stop
as for what they are declared as i would think austrilia is to its self and the rest are going to be pacific if there islands. Beyond that i would have to check with the airline for details. that or ask people on the board at www.flyertalk.com in the oneworld section.

I see that, however, if you're traveling in a westward direction, you cannot go from Asia to Australia and back againFG

and from what I read, you can travel within a continent in any direction, but you cannnot start a west itinerary and then progress eastward, in other words, if you travel from North America to Asia, and you're traveling westward, you cannot then go to Australia
so, no you cannot just do whatever, you must follow the rules of the ticket

as metioned in the 2008 thread, I think you should call this "around the world in 80 dives". Round trip would be amazing and one I would consider with advance notice/planning
Is 2009 enough advance planning?
What are other destinations people are interested in?

Let me send a email to AA EXP desk through my dad and see what would be the best way to ticket a trip like that

Well one trip I'm actually looking into is a multi country trip. I'd like to do a liveaboard(10 or 12 days) in the Solomon Islands then over to Oz(Australia). Either dive in Oz or head up to PNG. In PNG I was thinking of either 7 or 10 days at Tawali Resort in Milne Bay and then up to Kimbe Bay in New Britian, PNG and spend a week to 10 days on either Febrina or Star Dancer. After that if you haven't already done any diving in Oz you could do it then or return home. It would also be real easy to add Fiji before the Solomons if people were interested.
This is a very exciting multi-country trip!

But since you are on the subject of 2009 and you said the coral spawing TFG is a 2 year reservation .... I'd be up for a coral spawning trip in 2009.
I'd also be happy to return to Phuket as an individual trip or do Palau.
