Thanks everybody!
Well, my apparent absence here was not entirely intentional, as life has been absolutely insane lately. I'm slowly getting moved to Augusta a bit at a time, and I finally got my personal computing solution squared away (new laptop and finally a phone at the house...long story). So I'm back!!!
And now for the
really life-changing news (and one reason I've been so pre-occupied on weekends lately)...
I'M ENGAGED!!!!!!
Some of you are probably aware from other discussions on SD that I've been corresponding with (and intermittently seeing in person) a lady from Belarus (go to Russia and take a left). She came over this summer as a chaperone/translator for a bunch of kids for 6 weeks, in Raleigh. So naturally, I trekked up there every possible weekend. I popped the question three weekends ago, and delivered the actual ring last weekend. I'm soooo happy!
Of course, now comes an avalanche of paperwork to bring her here permanently, as the visa she's on now is only good for the duration of the trip with the kids. That will be a long and complex process, and no one can say just how long it will take. Accordingly, there are no firm wedding plans yet, but we should have a better idea of a firm date in about 6-8 months or so. So unfortunately Wenchie, she won't be able to accompany me to your and Bill's special day but I'm sure you'll get the chance to meet her next year sometime.
So there's my big news. Hope everybody is doing well!
Cheers!
Jim
Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is what you do in spite of your fear.
Every man has fear. Any man who has no fear belongs in an institution. Or in Special Forces.
