June of 08 is our Galapagos trip. That is a big trip so unless it is cancelled due to the issues in Ecuador...June would not work for another big trip. May is best for Bonaire...June is high season...May is not.

May could be considered "June'ish"... :banghead: Thanks... That would work nicely.

And you will see me because after my last lesson I will follow my instincts and not keep going into the abyss at olympic speed hoping there is really something in that direction.

Kamala,
I have been to Bonaire several times, my trip at the end of this month is my 5th. I have never had a flight issue but here is what I do.

I would NEVER fly to Bonaire via PR. Just don't do it. I also do not have an itinerary that includes a connection in the States. I fly out of Atlanta On Air Jamaica and have never had a problem. For me it means laying over one night in Atlanta but that is not a big deal when you figure the lowered stress level of not missing flights. The Houston red eye direct is also a good choice, however I choose not to fly red eye because you really lose a day of diving. The Atlanta AJ flight gets you in at 2:30 on Saturday.

Just some things to think about.

I have been there 4 times and have been pretty lucky but I know a bunch of people who have had huge problems with Air Jamaica. They routinely cancel the flight to Newark and send you to Philadelphia instead and then shuttle you in a broken down bus (which has actually broken down on two different groups of my friends) in the middle of the night. I have also spoken to people from Philly who have had the same experience. It seems like if those flights aren't full that Air Jamaica cancels one and combines them all the time.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

I went to Bonaire the last week of May, and took the direct Continental flight thru Newark. No problems at all. I actually liked flying all night. We arrived at 4:40 AM Sunday, made our way to the resort, took a nap on the boat dock because our room was not ready, found a place to change into swim trunks, and made the first dive at 10:00 AM. It was my fourth trip to Bonaire, and the best flight schedule so far.

Depending on when this is I might be interested. I've always wanted to go.

Right now I'm waiting to see what happens with Galapagos since that is my dream trip along with Wakatobi...

I so need more vacation time ;)

Bonaire is on my list. Since it's out of the malaria zone - Sara_the_brown could go too - I'll check with her.
No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.
