No I never kept journal, per se but I have kept all of my pocket notebooks in a box and will give them to my daugther at some point. Yes I will be going back to texas and teach, not sure where yet!

Wow, 27 years! That had to be a wild ride. Did you keep any kind of journal?

Congratulations and thank you!

Is the plan still to return to Austin and start instructing?

Very happy for you, :welcome:

I'm sure your daughter will appreciate getting those note books.

And the job you have now...teaching diving and running the Kabul Dive CLub. Now, that's not something you hear someone say everyday! :wavey:

LOL My job here in Kabul has nothing to do with diving, I am an advisor to the Afghan Ministry of Defense but in my spare time I teach diving and organize all the divers in the area and introduce others to diving that I work with.

While I am here I am teaching diving and running the Kabul Dive CLub! Check out our logo!

John,
Congrats on your retirement and dedication to serving your country. I made it to 23 yrs and also working contracts. I'm 'stuck' here in Ft. Rucker till the end of Sept then looking for something new. There are offers for me to go to Afghanistan next so besides Kabul, any other sites you recommend for IT/Aerospace work?

Kabul's quite a ways from open water....so where do you dive?

Well you can find something here or at Bagram I think that is about it, check with MPRI or L3 communications. Both have good employment websites. I work for MPRI and we are strictly training. L3 does alot more of course.
As for the water....I take my classes to Dubai to certifiy them. I do the academics here in Kabul then we fly down.
