Keep your head low Moose and trim back the rack. It's an ugly place so stay safe. I'll fly back to NJ when you return and meet you for some low risk fun.

Do you mean you would like a forum other than the "Divers in Uniform Forum"? Something password protected maybe, so your locations won't be public? Happy Hours over there sound like a great idea.

Well yes. Or something to that effect.

You see, I need to talk to people that are in the FOBs we might be going to. But I can't publicly ask for those locations (then I'm broadcasting where will be going.)

But it's not a big security risk to tell someone where you are already. Since most people already have disclosed it to many people.

The only other thing I can do is ask for a bunch of FOBs and have anyone in one of them PM me.

So, if you are currently in (or where recently in) any of the following please PM me...

FOB Caldwell
FOB Falcon
FOB Grizzly
FOB Independence
FOB Justice
FOB Warrior

Thanks

You have to send me an email telling where the dive sites are. If you get a group going I will take my gear for the next trip. I would have never thought to take it before.
Brent
(if you are heading down to Honduras to dive let me know)

Whether we agree on the Iraqi situation or not, I feel pretty certain that almost everyone believes that it is important to support those who serve there. Thankfully most have learned this lesson, although it was too late for many of my peers and friends who served in 'Nam so long ago.

Moose, you know my thoughts will be with you as well as the other men and women who go to serve what they feel are our country's best interests. Be safe... and give us a few dive reports when you can (without revealing any classified stuff, of course)!

Good luck and stay safe Moose. No one will hold it against you if you decide to duck once in a while.

I suggest you take that faulty scooter of yours with you and let the enemy go diving with it. That thing is better than a WMD. :birthday:

I'm with DrBill - not sure about the whole idea but you have my complete moral support, and best wishes. if you find some really cool dive sites maybe Kamala can be persuaded to run an SD trip there.

Well the news finally went public so I can share it here.

Looks like June of 2008 I’ll be back in Iraq for another lovely, all expenses paid, trip!

I can’t state which location I’ll be at (it isn’t 100% finalized), but I will be there.

Note, I’ve gotten a few other crazy divers ready and we plan to do as many dives there as possible. (yes, recreational diving in a war zone! :cheerleader: ) I’m working out some logistics right now, but it looks like it might be possible.

Is there a list of members for SD by what FOBs there are on? I’m trying to figure out what resources I need to plan for.

Note, if you are on our FOB and want to dive, I can bring gear for you. :birthday:

Moose,
Fellow warrior. Been there, done that, five times so far. We are doing the right thing over there. You keep your head down when you need to...shoot straight when you have to. God Bless.

PS: The Piers off of Kuwait offer some pretty good diving with some pretty decent reefs. There are a couple of DSs in Kuwait city. Send pictures.

Stay safe and well. Let me know if during your R and R you want to dive in Musandam, Oman (tip/entance to the Arabian) Gulf). My weekend diving :cheerleader:

Since I was Navy, all I had to worry about was drinking too much coffee before launch, and being aware of the fact that an officer's personal safe in our cabins could hold exactly 2 glass bottles approximately the size of a fifth, 4 if you kept your personal sidearm with you.

I did learn that there is no need to duck the one with your name on it, but that there are a whole s**t load mixed in the inbounds labeled "To Whom It May Concern".... since this is not your first trip, you probably have that figured out too - but please don't ever forget it.

Fair winds and following seas.

No aquarium, no tank in a marine land, however spacious it may be, can begin to duplicate the conditions of the sea. And no dolphin who inhabits one of those aquariums or one of those marine lands can be considered normal.

Thanks for all the kind words.

Right now, we are doing a pretty long trainup in Texas. We will be leaving at the end of Aug for about a year.

I do have a blog site (if you really have too much time on your hands) here...

Moose, if I may also say so, thank you so much for your service to this country. We all know freedom isn't free and many have paid the price. Just come back safe.
