we dropped down to about 65' and were surrounded by about two dozen sharks. Felt kinda like I was on the wrong side of a buffet. OK, ok, I know they aren't going to bite me but technically they COULD and I've never really been around that many sharks at once. The swim out was about 17 minutes and the entire time we were swimming thru/with the sharks. Had one brief moment that really got my attention when an 8-footer cruised by my left side and I noticed the head was as wide across as my shoulders. It was so close the tail almost brushed me as it went by.

Trip made me envious of all those going on more later in the year.
Thanks again to all.
Tony

Hey Tony, you should sign up for the Morehead , NC, Wrecks and Sharks dive trip in July. There are some dive sites where you are surrounded by 15 – 20 sandtiger sharks. Usually the viz is 100 feet but sometimes it might just be 15 feet. Then you only see their shadows but you know they are all around you. It's a cool feeling. You would love it.

Got home OK in spite of the rubber-glove treatment in Miami, complete with a trip to a little back room occupied by about 30 DEFINITE non-U.S. citizens.
TMI!

OK--who called ahead and warned them about me?
Wasn't me!!

Only took about 10 minutes

Would you expect anything less from me???

Sounds like you had a great time in Roatan. I'll have to get the unedited version another time. :thankyou:

Was a blast traveling with you. Hope to see you on another trip soon.

Speaking of which, is anyone else having a problem posting pics? I understand why fel gomez can't post, as image posting is a feature of premier membership. I've PM'ed the other people who posted that they were having problems and when they tried again/resized, it was working for them. Was anyone else having a problem posting images who expected that they should be able to?

Bruce,
Thanks so much for the Utila CD. You have an incredible eye. It is hard to choose, but I think my favorite is the pair of squids. That one has to win a prize somewhere. Second would probably be the spotted eel with mouth wide open. The nudibrancs, the crabs, the starfish, the toadfish, all great shots. And above water photos were the icing on the cake. And of course one of your whale shark photos is my new desktop.

Jim

Hello everybody..! Just wanted to drop a note to say that i'm back in Utila..!! Steve, Zab, Jessica and I have been going out every day that we can, and so far, no Whale Sharks. This is the longest time they have ever recorded in Apil with no sighting..!! But that gives me time to get more shots for the DVD. I've gathered a collection of corral and fish that we saw and i'm compilin the DVD now. As soon as i return to the states (April 22nd) it will be avialble..!! I want to thank everybody that contributed to the DVD with video and stills! (its going to be sensational!!)

so fo now, its back on the ocean for me I seach of Whale Sharks..!

All the best, and i look forward to seeing everybody on future trips.!!

David

Hey Dave, you are soooo lucky. Hope your travel to Utila was easier this time.
Thanks for working on the DVD. I cross my fingers that you will see the whale sharks this time.
I am looking forward to dive with you again.
