well, for all you people going out this week to the flower gardens, I got some good and some bad news.
good news is that this last weekend (8/9/8 to 8/10/8) the sea's where very very calm. Visability was very good. But, there was not much big stuff out in the water. noone saw a manta ray, hammer head, tiger or whale shark. There where a lot of baracuda as usual (from what i hear), though they are fun to play with. At the one rig dive, there was nothing big at all, well except the 4 foot silkies that where swimming around people onthe safety line. We had one lady terrified of sharks on the trip, and she was walking on water to get back to the boat. that was a fun sight. lol.
I am hoping that when you all get out there and with the full moon and the coral spawning coming up soon, you will all see more than we did.

But on the best note, with this being my fist time out, I got to see a lot of amayzing things (well to me they where).
on the stetson bank dives, there where a lot of eals, cudda, parrot fish where everywhere.

on the east bank, if you go to the metal structure they have down on the bottom and look under the boxes you will find the lobster and long legged crabs.

someone mentioned seeing a manta at the east bank. though we have yet to see the pictures of it she took. and that was due north of the morring line. everyone else (myself included) headed south toward the metal structure.

Well, that is my short summary of this last weekends trip out.
I hope you all have much better luck than I did, and no it did not discourage me, I am wanting to go again. lol.
and no WW I still cannot make it this week, I want to do not get me wrong, but I think I need to take it a little slow on the boat trips. (I am sitting here at my computer still swaying trying to get used to dry land, and that was just two days on the boat, imagine me after 4. lol)

happy bubbles everyone,
Dave.

well i was able to get into the padi site and look up all my certs with dates. Will this work for mel and frank or do they want the card? Or can i just pull out my phone and give OTWdiver a call since he is my tec instructor and the one who signed off on my Adv Nitrox card?

As long as you have a PADI card, I can look you up, that's good enough for me. You will want to get a replacement card, though, for your next trip.

As far as Dave goes, Sorry Dave. We saw Manta Rays, 23 (count 'EM 23) SCHOOLING HAMMERHEADS on our trip last weekend. Did I say we had 23 schooling hammerheads? as well as a ruffed tail ray, tiger shark (that charged 2 divers, not too cool), sandbar shark, silkies, duskies, southern rays, grouper galore, etc. etc. Did I forget to mention 23 schooling hammerheads? And to think, I told the Fling captain where they were. Turnabout's fair trade, he told me the previous week.
