funny, I was just reading this topic thread yesterday. and then I go home and find the new issue of Alert Diver in my mailbox.... any one else get their Sept/Oct issue this week? they feature an article as result from the movie coming out, talking about the new Number Tag system DAN is supporting for boat operations to use

I've received mine- good article but not one that will be widely publicized...

Strom Thurmond said that you're only as old as the women your with. When he died, his wife at the time was young enough to be his grand-daughter. lol

in that same issue, they talk about plastic surgery and returning to diving....
it was interesting to me, cuz i'm always asking one of our plastics guys to do my lower lids. but my biggest concern is 'when can i dive again??"

he told me that he did, in fact, have a patient who had her lids done. no complications, and they looked great. she went diving a month after surgery and herniated the fat pads under the eyes (so now it looks like she has golfballs under her eyes).
so HIS advice is 3 MONTHS off from diving...not the 3 weeks they recommend in the article!

(sigh) so i guess i'll just go through life with bags under my eyes rather than wait 3 months to dive.....

of course, there's always preparation H ....any of you ladies heard this little beauty secret???!!!! :teeth: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Well, it's designed to "shrink swelling of imflamed tissues" so some ladies use it under the eye area. I've heard that beauty contestants swear by it, especially for that first-thing-in-the-morning puffiness.

common practice among beauty contestants, too. although I'm definitely sure it was LA-ers who first thought of putting butt creme on their face.

Marvel>> it is supposed to reduce the redness, puffiness & bags of eyes

So....(ahem) getting back on topic now ...(and not a moment too soon, either)
:mauswhip:

Has anyone actually seen the movie "Open Water" yet? I was all excited to see it, but the on-line reviews from viewers in my area were overwhelmingly negative. So I thought I'd see if any divers here have seen it, and what their take on it is....

Opinions?

okay...i bit and saw the movie. for me, horribly disappointing. i even took a non-diver, and he said that even for someone that didn't know a thing about diving, everything seemed implausible. he had to cover my mouth a few times because i was getting upset. i eventually took a nap until the movie was over.

How disappointing. I watched a show on Discovery Channel (or was it National Geographic?) on the making of it and it was very interesting.
