[Landlocked Dive Nut]

I just read the Jan/Feb 2009 DAN Alert Diver magazine, and there is an article called "Keep Learning". To summarize, they generally agree that the end of a scuba course should not signal the end of a diver's education, but is the beginning of a new type of education -- learning from experience, which includes just about everything that SD is all about:

• Continuing Education - advanced specialty courses, offered by SD on most of their dive trips!
• Dive more often - the very heart of SD is their awesome dive trips!
• Participate in dive clubs - the best dive club I've found is SD!
• Read all about it - reading a variety of publications or forums, and hey, guess what??? SD has all kinds of topics in it's archives
  
• Talk to others - SD members are always willing to share their knowledge & experience!
• Attend dive gatherings - an SD happy hour, dive trip, or trade show, and guess what topic usually takes precedence? Yep, diving, of course!

So, congratulations to SD for being a great provider of many things that help us become better divers. Thank you, and I for one am glad to me a member and participant. I'm learning from those more advanced than I, and I hope I can be of help to those who are just getting started.

Smart-aleck comments aside, this is precisely why I joined SD. There IS a huge amount of knowledge and experience contained within our membership and, of primary importance to me, willingness to share it! There is a strong community here, and it is profoundly beneficial to novice and advanced divers alike.

Now all I have to do is get myself back south so that I can partake in the diving part, too!!

I can only echo your comments ESPECIALLY the depth and willingness of our phenomenal experts to share ideas, thoughts and knowledge with us. And to do so with RESPECT and the understanding that differing opinions are GREAT...just as long as they are offered and received with

The latter is the key...the rest is then up to our awesome divers who then benefit from the ongoing gifts from our community!
